  1. Hi all, I am so stoked with yesterdays results. Out of 229 birds sent by our club I got 2nd !!!! Only 4 yards behind the winner, and I would have been the winner but I havent got them trapping well yet. Still WTG meeeeeeeeeee...and my bird of course !!
  2. 18 / 21 back from Lyndhurst which is 145 from me. First back in 2 hrs and 54 mins. Not sure if that is ok or not yet but will soon find out.
  3. Looking at sending 20 to Lyndhurst which is approx 145 miles from me I think. Good luck everybuddy !!!
  4. Hi all, I was just wondering how long it would be ok to leave birds in the baskets for before taking them to the marking on a Friday night? The reason I ask is because it would suit me to put them in in the morning when I get home from work at 5am but I dont know whether that would have an adverse effect on them..or on the flip side would it make em fly like Joe Stink when they finally get libbed? What are your thoughts plz guys and guyesses
  5. Thank you all for your help. Was my mistake, I missed a number off in the first email. Have now been asked for address and phone number etc for owner to contact me. Thanks again all S.Wilcox..I apologise if I appeared rude, I certainly didn't meant to be..sorry again.
  6. Received this email a few minutes ago. Dear Sir/Madam, We did not issued this ring number. Would you check it again. Kind regards, Nederlandse Postduivenhouders Organisatie Leden- en Ringenadministratie Not sure where to go now then...guess I'll just have to chuck it up and let it take it's chance. Noone else can issue an NL ring right?
  7. I got 8..which is strange cuz they are the first things I have remembered in years !!.. Things that make you go hmmmmmm
  8. Hi all, This bird NL 1392037 just dropped into my loft today. Not surprised because it's so windy today. Anyway it was in my loft although I have removed it to a basket now. Looks in good health but I am not happy about throwing it back up because of the wind. Any ideas who it belongs to? I have an addy for the Netherlands but figured best to try here first cuz we know everything !!!!!! Thanks all
  9. I have sent my birds out in adverse weather for the first time today. I was a bit worried at 1 point because the wind suddenly got a whole lot stronger after I had sent them up. But they are all are home again and so all is well. I also sent them in a totally different direction today just to make them think a bit.
  10. This is my big un !!! 2 JRs to do the yapping and big lad to take over with heavy duty stuff ..white is 4and a half months old and the tri is 3 and a half months old but I'm confident they will be able to lick you senseless in a few months.
  11. Thank you very much guys. Think in view of the fact that loft shud be here in a month or so I may go with crisp boxes till then.
  12. Hi All, Ok, so I am looking to put a few nest boxes in this "loft" I got. Just temporary ones until I get my new loft in a few weeks when I will build some proper stable ones. I saw a post on here about using some Wilko's crates but I am confused (doesn't take much) What crates are we talking about here..is there any possibility some1 could post a picture as the only crates I've seen in there don't remotely resemble nest boxes. Thanks all
  13. Hi all, I have just been out to clean out what I laughingly call a loft. Didn't notice at first but there is a bird behind a bit of plywood shelter with an egg on the floor and not in a nestbowl although there is bowls there but just the basic eggbox type. Advice please. Should I move it into a bowl or leave it where it is? Should I clean round it or leave well alone until (if) hatching? Anything else I need to know? Thanks all
  14. Hi all, My car is currently having a nervous breakdown and can't be trusted to make it all the way there and back on a training toss. Do you guys think I could send this week without them training? Also the problem may be quite lengthy as its looking like I could need a new car so if it lasts a few weeks would flying round houses/ranging be enough for them? They have had 50 mile tosses up to now and have raced 114 miles. Not looking for trade secrets here, just your honest opinions please. Thanks all
  15. Hi All, This bird is a blue cheq pied and 1 of my favourites. Hasn't arrived home yet after last week's race but wanted to give it time before posting. Anyway if anyone gets it in or around their loft I would love to get it back. Thanks all
  16. I'd go for that for sure !!! Give it 3 years I may be able to at least pretend I know what I'm doing convincingly!!! Nice poster too..good job!!!!!
  17. All being well I should be sending 24 and I think it's 132 miles to me from Littlehampton.
  18. Just woke up to the news that Sir Bobby Robson is dead and it brought a tear to my eye. To my mind he will always be one of football's gentlemen who fought his demons with an inner strength and a quiet dignity we would all do well to emulate if God forbid we ever need to. Rest In Peace Sir Bobby.
  19. Wondering what the hell I'm doing awake this time in the morning. As it happens I just finished work at 5 and was basketing the birds ready to take em for a 50 mile toss but some are too lively for 5 am ish and I made some hardwood screens to darken the loft yesterday so I am trying them out. They are quieter for sure so hopefully I can box them off with less stress than before. Happy Friday all...good luck this weekend
  20. Personally out of all my birds I find the grizzles the most attractive along with my 1 silver cuz she was the first I ever owned. I find a really well coloured mealy the most attractive of all though.
  21. Hi all, Was my first ever race today and I eventually got the first 2 birds to trap. In my excitement I took both race rings off and put them both in clock 1 after the other. I know which birds the rings were on but I am not sure which one I struck first. When the clock is opened will it show which thimble went in first or do the numbers just need to match the sheet I filled in? Got 21 out of 22 back tho so I'm happy even if I did DQ myself Hope this is clear Thanks all
  22. Hi All, Well, here goes. Our first race is tomorrow. They wil be going from Bovingdon wherever that is. Done as much as I could with the limited knowledge I had and the help of new and old friends. It's up to them now. Sending 25 and if they all come in safe that for me is a hell of a result!!! A ticket would be nice as a bonus though Good luck to all this weekend.
  23. Hi there, I aasked my friend to pick up some pigeon food from petshop today to save us both going. She has bought Regular instead of Young Bird. I can't buy another bag till Friday so will a couple of days on Regular do them any harm? It's Bucktons Racing Pigeon where they usually have Bucktons Young Birds. Thanks all
  24. Hi all, I am sure I have seen a thread on this subject but I can't find it now so apologies for rehashing an old story. Basically, with the weather we have had the last few days I am wondering where to draw the line re taking birds for training flights. Took them the other day (30 miles) when it was overcast with very light drizzle, first time they have been that far and most of them beat me home so happy about that. However, although I wouldn't be happy throwing them up in heavy rain there is no doubt that at some point they will encounter bad weather on the way home. So what do you guys do?? Thanks for looking and any replies!
