  1. You know, the most amazing thing is that 99% of any crop opened up will reveal Qualtz. Now where does that come from, and how eh! Was a fellow on here that had access to Qualtz. Wanted to pop down and fetch some. Also of course a loft visit. Any one know where there is some then I'd be gratefull to know.
  2. Well I seldom, if at all, put any out for them in race season. They have freedom out of the loft so find their own if they want it. When shut up, it's the same as it has become an habit. - Never bothered as mine were out 365 days a year. However, now with stock birds I do after burning the floor sometimes. I just sprinkle it on the floor whilst clean and before feeding. So 13 days or so won't hurt a jot.
  3. From that Rome Test (so called race) in the 80's I was surised how many Bussearts showed up. Including Hursts etc. and Shipley from Northampton. 1017 miles. Yep granted a mite longer than a day. Seems after three days from any decent distance the time homing becomes really slower. Of course when one plies a little thought as to why it again is not suprising.
  4. When in Rome... Two beggars are sitting side by side on a street in Rome. One has a Cross in front of him, the other one the Star of David. Many people go by and look at both beggars, but only put money into the hat of the beggar sitting behind the Cross. A priest comes by, stops and watches throngs of people giving money to the beggar behind the Cross, but none give to the beggar behind the Star of David. Finally, the priest goes over to the beggar behind the Star of David and says, "My poor fellow, don't you understand? This is a Catholic country; this city is the seat of Catholicism... People aren't going to give money if you sit there with a Star of David in front of you, especially when you're sitting beside a beggar who has a Cross. In fact, they would probably give to him just out of spite." The beggar behind the Star of David listened to the priest, turned to the other beggar with the Cross and said: 'Moishe, look who's trying to teach the Goldstein brothers about marketing!"
  5. Paddy's fingers Paddy was working at the fish plant in Cork when he accidentally cut off all 10 of his fingers. He went to the emergency room in Cork 's hospital. The doctor looked at Paddy and said, 'Lets be avin' DA fingers and I'll see what oi can do'. Paddy said, 'Oi haven't got DA fingers.' 'Whadda ya mean you haven't got DA fingers? " Lord Tunderin' Jesus, it's 2009 !" " We's got microsurgery and all kinds of incredible techniques. we have skills that are a miricle in thus day and age we can perform the unbelievable !!!!!!!!! I could have put dem back on and made you like new i cant believe it !!!!!!!!!! Why didn't ya bring DA fingers?!?' tell me now why didnt ya bring DA fingers ????????/ And Paddy said, SHOCKED AND ANGRY ..................................... "jesus !!!!! How DA fock was I 'spose to pick them up????"
  6. Eye owen101. Be a little while yet... to cold to be building oat lol.
  7. Here's a wee "Happy New Year" reminder fae me an' Joyce, "Ah Belang Tae Glesga'" Jist stoatin! Tae Jimmy en nall.
  8. First 3 lofts were great, Seasoned timber and what not.... Nothing. Went and saw guys on the Demolishion sites. Save burning or holding on to stuff that may never sell, then burning and hassle shifting... Just gave them a bottle or so. Then went and brought tongue and groove etc. when first moved here and cost me a lot less than £300 for a 5 x 2 (17 foot loft. Had it altered twice when got a few deals... Last time I built as said. I reckon now at £7 a throw for plastic cladding of 16ft 6inches. a few plastic corner pieces and the Mesh of Pigeonpete. 2 inch suare rough timber - Personally would still be visiting demo sites too - it would cost much more than £300 with a good roof.
  9. Actually, like y/b sickness, most now if they get it encouge the others to get it. Like one vomits and others peck it up. many encourage it. Including a vet often banded around as a good vet. Why. Some they get overit the better and the whole shebang moves on. It is also surely more cost effective to treat the complete lot than keep treating as one get better another goes down. I love to see my birds wall to wall. Indeed would love just enough room to walk between 3 or 4 shelfs on each side where they have built their nests with no barriers whatsoever. - Only will have one side like that this season - Golly do they compete and watch each other. Open loft as such and you never need any other motivation.
  10. Taboo and detrimental I'm afraid from sauces that had problems doing it.
  11. I think that Vaccines is the way to go. I also believe - like Para- that it has to be a regular, and possibly an forever saga. When one thinks that the most effective jab / vaccine of all time was for Polio and the great strides and wonderful results made and seen, one but must remember what happens when it was thought it was erradicated to all sense and purpose; and powers to be decided in another country to do away with the cost burden.... It was back with a vengence in no time at all. It hadn't gone no where, was just controlled via vacination. So it may well be that as resilance is achieved, and stronger measure then will be a must, I think to stem, curb and control so much - in todays world - vacinnes and protection will have to be the way forward. Yes costly, but then one has to wiegh up both costs and of course vacination wins hands down.
  12. Only downer is that desease will spread through the loft quicker ... Hey hang on a mo there I hear you say 'But that is actually a good thing, it they get over it quicker, and aor treat emblock'. So yes that is actually another bonus of so - called 'Over crowding'. ;D ;D ;D
  13. Steady on there laddie.... though many will lose a far greater percentage. Do a lot lot worst etc. They will still put up that stupid lame crutch 'Overcrowding. It is tosh, for makes no sense, and yet is blamed for every thing when they can't or dare not use the Y/B/S syndrome excuse for failures and loses. Can see the itchy fingers now wanting to lie that at your’ door lol. Yes, sidle around to it lol. Yes even ‘Name Flyers spout it as if they must lol… yes these that fly 2 – 300 youngsters. Have seen their VASTLY over crowded lofts that they excel from, yet tell others as a matter of course Don’t overcrowd’. The amazing thing is they sell 200 or more ‘Culls’ that don’t make the grade, to those that believe in overcrowding … Over crowding is a myth that appeases poor management and other fanciers failings. So what of those, and many were winners unto Fed level, and most owned and looked after via top Fed men that went missing in the MNFC disaster this last year 211 out of 3500 were it? Oh, sorry, of course they were over crowded in the panniers in transit lol ;D No such thing! They love company, love a Pecking order and pecking distance. Indeed thrive on it, as it is their’ nature. Coupled with clean water and good grub, regularly given, they well thrive. Ideal too is an open loft from say 8 in Morning till 4 - 4: 30 in afternoon (Still over crowed of course lol). Just where can there be any problems. So what is some are unhappy? they will fly of the top, come back late from training / races to they too Bu*g*r off lol. Those content will fly their earnest.
  14. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34614380/ns/health-infectious_diseases/ Over use is prevalent. Unwise use, plus using willy - nilly, and because, though we should and DO know better, it seems far too many just ignore hoping for a Goldern Vail.
  15. Gordon Chambers was at a convention. Was speaking to other prominent Vets etc. Seems it is as good as anything on the market. Will try to find his piece in it sometime. Seems used properly the floor was agasted with all sorts of worms.
  16. To stop steaming up, would spitting and rubbing on the Glass / Plastic prevent this like it does when Scuba diving / Snorkling? :-/
  17. If things change, you get a helper etc. just contact me and - Like Owen, will deffinately sort you some out to get you started again.
  18. Stu, think the comment was the 100 odd £thousand' then would be worth more than Super ben today in reality. Of course inflation takes place constantly. As the dear ole cow thatcher would squeak hoarsely 'In real terms ....' ;D ;D
  19. How many pairs in a tree? :-/ Depends on 'Air Circulation'! Which means Not in and out, but in, circle and then out!
  20. Like Bob Flemmings use to say,' Many a bad pigeon may have a good eye, but never a good pigeon with a bad eye'!
  21. Must be a terrible wrench to you Jimmy. So sad to here it... I guess you will stay around abouts etc. with the them.
  22. I was with Bill on Sunday, he if listened to can demonstrate all the reasons behind the theory but it still takes the right management to get anything out of even the best bird! Exactly... we all need excuses to measure up to the standard we want. When 'Mr Basket' ha s done he's job and too many birs left then we need another yardstick to measure up to to make the call for the cull.
  23. Well, many roads lead to Rome.... and Eye Guru's are more plentiful than roads. Many have a little to no knowledge, which is dangerous. Other too much and bleat as such, though of course this will not be the same as anyone else's, so empty vessels ... :-/ So in my opinion, they should at least talk with same tongue, and speak the same results as each other. The main problem is that they can't even agree amongst themselves, and if any creedence is to be put into this theory, or faith, it makes it hard to build any. However, I will say over the years, two have stood out and have had rave reviews and reports. Mr Eyesign himself Bill Carney - not the son so much - and of course Bob Flemmings Also called Mr EyeSign' strangely. I know that a Mr Vickers advertised a few years back and was kept busy. As was Bill - overly I think, and Bob. These filled halls - at least I know that Bob did regularly, and amongst the audience remember, it was a very mixed views and trials they'd put to him. Those to test and those to disprove! Never ever heard a bad word against Bob after any had attended his assemblies, only praise in fact even fsuprise via non believers. Likewise with Bill. Remember, oh so many names that locke horns and views with Bob, and Bill was too much of a gentleman to sink low, but never ever seen either stuck, or failed to answer satifactory any question. I'd put faith in Albear. He has his own gleaned method, and has spent time, and study to perfect his theories. Yes he has locked horns with many too lol. But I have never seen a Guru that hasn't been derided, belittled or someone try to take them to the cleaners. So outside of a Mr Dave Rogers, I could personally only point anyone to Albear to bear any merit if there is any to be had.
  24. Which ones? :-/ :-/ There's dozens to choose from, and all can't be crap.
