All depends on what they are bred from Paul. For racing 25 - 30 but as previously stated from the main stock birds prices can rocket. All depends on what you want and what you want to do with them. Some good offers around for kits of 6 or 10 for racing. We were fortunate to buy a yb once for 12.50 and it turned out one of our best racers ever but these are a rarety now. Eamon
After a disasterous start where i put 42 eggs in the bin due to the temp falling to -16 before xmas i managed to wean the survivors last night 9 in all. All widowhood cocks down now and starting to hatch out along with the stock birds. Some older cocks have had blank eggs up to now. Totals to date - 9 weaned / 10 more hatched / 23 pair down on eggs.
After posting this topic and considering all the good advice that was given i decided to move the hen into the Yb section on her own and after 1 week without any tablets or suppliments she is back in her box on the top row. I can only put it down to the hen hitting the nerve while laying as previously stated. Thanks guys.
