I think dehydration plays a major role in young bird losses - its not a case of birds not being basket trained - but not being able to get near a drinker on the transporter, particularly on holdovers - the youngsters get disorientated. Though personally I didn't lose many, in one particular race - a holdover, two youngsters arrived back home at dusk - 8.30pm, landing on next door neighbours garage - we turned all the lights on in the loft and got one in - but the other one flew off into the night - never to be seen again

I got all my requisites for the breeding season - there were loads of bargains on several stalls - the pigeon pharmacy had 2 for one offers on loads of stuff - their canker treatment was 2 for one and the equivalent of emtryl, cocci treatment (amprolium) was also 2 for 1 orego-stim £19.90 for 3x1 litre bottles or £7.50 for a litre

I won 3x20kg bags in a race sponsored by Harkers - so I don't need any for a while ;D but I did spend most of my money on that stand on other things

I'm sure there were more trade stands there this year than last - if the show had been on - there wouldn't have been any room to move - there were 202 birds in the selling class - where would the rest of the birds have gone? You could move with ease - and the attendance wasn't much less than last year - I thought it was quite good - I must be easy to please ;D ;D
