  1. I have a cable which is a USB thing at one end for the laptop and becomes a small parallel port insert at the other to fix into the club base unit.
  2. I have just been informed by an established Unikon using member that he has bought himself a Unikon champ system.Am I correct in thinking that if I put the guys new champ in the club base unit, hook up the laptop and synchronise all his birds are transferred to his champ clock or is it more complicated.
  3. Very happy birthday to you Steven.
  4. Yeah well the original owner of the ring has been in touch and is as puzzled as I am.Whoever raced the blue hen is keeping stum not surprisingly
  5. A fancier in Coatbridge rings a white young bird in spring 2013 as normal. He loses the white young bird in training. In June 2014 a blue hen comes in here bearing the missing white pigeons ring number and a Unikon ring and a race rubber.I refer to the Topic Description,King James version.
  6. I have said it before on this site, peregrine falcons, buzzards, red kites and sparrow hawks are regarded as a major tourist attractions and help the hotels cafés and caravan sites as the gullible holiday makers gawp at these "magnificent winged killing machines".
  7. In our local newspaper The Annandale Herald and Moffat news there is prominently displayed on page 11 what is described as a powerful image it shows a hen sparrow hawk which has and I quote " captured a young robin" and as usual is busily engaged in eating it alive which the newspaper describes as the "plucking process" all to provide a heart meal for her three near ye chicks. While photographs such as this are enthusiastically printed in newspapers for the admiration and delight of normal members of the public the money spent and the efforts made by organisations such as the raptor alliance is a complete waste.
  8. Thank you for that seemingly it belongs to Sharp,Cummings & Durning of Coatbridge.
  9. SU13L12115 a blue hen with an ETS Unikon ring and a race rubber probably lost drom the inland national was tossed from Abington last Thursday and returned to Moffat this morning.I will likely report it through the SHU, in the meantime does anyone recognise this pigeon
  10. Blue hen SU13L 112115 with aUnikon ring and a rubber will be liberated today at Abington about 2.15.Hope it makes it home.
  11. OK that seems reasonable enough Peter but I am still not so sure.A transporter is the property of a number of pigeon fanciers banded together in a Federation to pursue their joint hobby/sport of racing pigeons and as such does not attract the attention of the authorities. However if one crate of pigeons is on that vehicle which is not owned by the Federation members this has a fundamental change in the operation
  12. Gentlemen, this post is NOT about the advantages and disadvantages of joint convoying and liberating. It is about keeping within the regulations relating to our vehicles while on the road should our drivers encounter an over zealous law enforcement officer or even worse be involved in an accident which attracts the attention of the authorities .Either of these scenarios could result in a substantial fine for Federations.
  13. This morning there are two or it might be three transporters at the same race point on the South coast of England. Those vehicles are at half or maybe quarter capacity. For many years I have expounded the view that there should be more cooperation between Federations so as to resolve this apparently wasteful situation.I have now began to change my mind over this as the transport authorities (I am not sure of their correct)name have more or less agreed to turn a blind eye to any requirement for pigeon organisations to require an operators licence, use a tachograph or restrict driver's hours on the reasonable grounds that a pigeon Federation is not a commercial profit seeking outfit.However.should a Federation agree to convey another organisation's birds and charge a fee for doing so it could be claimed that the Federation is operating for hire or reward and thus lose the protection previously enjoyed.Do other site members have an opinion on this?
  14. 67birds away to Appleton from Lockerbie with the Solway.
  15. Any fancier who sees his beloved sport being ruined by these winged predators has my full sympathy. I have made protests to all interested and legislative bodies in person and in writing over many years all to no avail and I might add have been subjected to criticism on this site being described as a serial moaner and complainer. Should be legislative ammended on your behalf (andy)
  16. Owen, the last sentence of your post is my problem as well.I enjoy my life and am having a fairly good old age but life will be a desert without the birds, like I have said before on this site I would never set the heather on fire in pigeon racing circles, all I want is to rear and keep a few birds and get them home but that is now getting impossible, a lot of deep thought is required. One thing is for sure I am not racing my few young birds.
  17. After around twenty years I am losing the heart for this game, started off the young birds flying out with 25 lovely young pigeons (some bought in at prices I struggled to afford).i am now down to 11 youngsters at 3pm today. The cause is peregrine falcons and nothing else and I do not feel like breeding pigeons for these predators. Before the usual chorus of "stop moaning and do something about it" starts I do not wish to become involved in anything I might later regret.I genuinely wish everyone on basics well but it is doubtful if I will continue in pigeon racing.
  18. E Mailed this guy Hughes Lindsay thank you for your help
  19. I got a blue hen here IHU13N 27995' it has a mobile phone number around its ETS ring. When I phoned the number I got a supercilious fool who clamed not to know what I was raving about and slammed the phone down.Anybody recognise the number? done number on your behalf Walter .
  20. SU 13L 1808 a blue chequer with an id ring no.22 and a Unikon ring will be tossed near Douglas about 1.15 pm tomorrow (Friday)' hope it makes it home.
  21. Two weeks ago (17th. May ) I attended the confirmation of my great nephew into the Danish church. The ceremony was held in beautiful small church in a little village in Jutland, all went well until half way through the proceedings were interrupted by a strident call on my Blackberry and then the Solway controller notified the congregation that the pigeons had been released at Stafford into a light south east wind.I hastily informed everyone most of whose English was limited that it was a small family thing and nothing to worry about and the proceedings continued.
  22. I phoned Unikon this morning and persuaded them to give me an activation code.I am not happy with their attitude, they tried to make out that it could be my own fault for not filling in their documentation before the beginning of the season which is complete nonsense as I have been club secretary at Lockerbie since before Unikon was heard of and have always responded to their letters. The guy I spoke to told me he would give me an activation code this once as if he was doing me an enormous favour and now I am left wondering what if it happens again. It is my intention to write a letter to the SHU and make them aware of this deplorable situation.
  23. Well obviously I will phone Unikon in the morning and if I can gain any useful information I will publish it on this site.
  24. Tried Ok twice no luck
  25. No it has never asked for an activation code in the middle of the season before.
