POWER TO THE PIGEON ^_^
-
What would we do without our kids. I've cleaned out me birds, fed and watered em, rung another two Raptor meals.
-
TOOSHY BOY, you have my utmost respect. I can't give it up now if I wanted too, my kids are behind this now and are talking about taking the petitions round the streets. Whenever I fall, they will be there to catch me. I can't believe how supportive they have become. The youngest boy who is 13 said to me today, you are the most successful person I know and if anyone can do it you can. There's your answer folks. Unite the Clans, we are going to pick a fight.

I sat and watched Braveheart this morning. It did inspire me, now I know what he was up against. Just hope I don't get hung drawn and quartered. LOL

I feel much rested today and not as irritable as I was last night and if I offended anyone, then please accept my sincere apologies. I think we need to approach this campaign, with a much more positive attitude. In having had two days to comb through SHU Report, I can honestly see where the Scottish fanciers are coming from, all the hard work, by everyone that went into the report. Only to see it fail. I can now see why there is so much apprehension, to a new campaign. OK, now let me show you some courses of action we can now take. 1. We can admit defeat, here and now and call it a day. There's no shame, we gave it our best shot and failed. 2. We can also look at our opponent the mighty RSPB, with their 90 million pound disposable budget and say that they are too powerful for us,the fancy to take on and will defeat us before we start, by simply waving their bank balance in our face. 3. We could start shouting and screaming, vowing to take matters into our own hands, which will not only discredit the fanciers and the fancy as a whole, but will also show us to be inhuman, give the weight to the RSPB persecution of Birds Of Prey campaign. Leave us all open to prosecution and show that we have no faith in the democratic process. 4. Up to now our campaign has cost nothing, but a little bit of time, we have managed to highlight our problem on a budget of £0.00. It also seems that the RSPB has got the press in their pocket as they just don't seem to interested in helping us in any way at the moment. Lets look at the big picture, the fancy is not just localised to UK, neither is the Raptor problem. There are fanciers all over the world, experiencing what we are, OK it may not be on the same scale, but they are sympathetic to our problem and want to help. Why not involve everyone and prove to the powers that be that, for years there as been a big problem, but now it's a huge problem. A problem that has now got out of control. Just a thought guys, what do you think

I know guys I'm in possession of the full report RACING PIGEONS – IMPACT OF RAPTOR PREDATION Report to SCOTTISH NATURAL HERITAGE & SCOTTISH HOMING UNION

Your right mate it is their job, but do you think that they will spend thousands of pounds 6 months man power to create a study, employ company of legal representatives and University professors to compile a study and then a concise application to parliament, knowing it's members have no confidence in the action. No they would rather not have the hassle and go and spend our money enjoying themselves at charity dinners and giving all our money away. That's the top and bottom of it.
-
The work the SHU put in was phenomenal, I have got a hard drive with it all on. Your right about the public too. But what really gets me, is fanciers just cannot be bothered. In fact if we looked back in history all great victories, were won by armies, that were out numbered, outmatched and on paper had no chance. How did they win? Sheer determination. If this was in my Grandpa's day, I'm afraid everyone would be in jail now. We have gone soft, we just cannot be bothered. I'm sorry but along with the other 599 fanciers, im going to be the biggest pain the ass there is. I just wish people could see, the determination I have to take this mammoth task on. We just need to motivate people, think of the positives instead of wallowing in the negatives. Thats all im saying.
-
Of course your right to your opinion, but why can't we see a positive opinion. The RSPB rely on Raptor Study Groups set up all over the country, they report back to the RSPB. A Ball park figure the fancy has say over 100,000. What if we created our own study group, a hundred thousand individuals studying attacks on racing pigeons and reporting them back to a central body.
-
There you go again. So lets pull the heads off all our pigeons and call it a day. BULLSHIT. It means nothing, OK they have a good legal department. So what. I suppose next you'll be saying us fanciers will be applying for legal aid. WAKE UP MAN. We live in a democracy, remember that word.
-
It was much better than some predicted, but it has slowed right down now, the RSPB must be pissing themselves laughing. That's the difference between us and them, they are dedicated. That's why we loose the fight every year mate. Maybe I'd be better aiming it a European fanciers, I'm sure they would sign a damn site quicker.

What are the dates.
-
It may be worth getting a list together as they say nothing ventured. Were beginning to get some better known names on the petition now.
-
As promised I have spent the whole day sending emails here there and everywhere, so watch for some big names coming on the petition. I have had the thumbs up from PIPA and they are putting our article online on Thursday hopefully this will bring in some much needed attention to our cause. Below is a copy of the letter I have emailed emailed everyone that I could find. Thanks for your continued support guys. Hi, Pigeon fancier here, just in case you think it’s one of those dodgy begging letters that find the way into everyone’s email accounts. My name is Gary Burgess a pigeon fancier of many years. I would just like to bring to your attention a campaign that we fanciers have now put together in a bid to save the fancy from dying. This action is to get the fanciers in the UK and protest about the current issues surrounding the very serious problem that is affecting every fancier here in the UK. That problem is the increasing numbers of birds of prey, which are now relentlessly attacking our birds on a daily basis. We want this problem to be brought to the attention of the British Government and DEFRA as the RSPB just don’t want to know are accusing us of over exaggerating the whole issue. Your help, would help give to credibility to the whole campaign and would in fact, protect all our interests for years to come. Your help in this very serious matter would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards Gary Burgess On behalf of the British Pigeon Fanciers http://saveourracingpigeons.yolasite.com/ http://www.change.org/petitions/save-our-racing-pigeons-debate-the-overpopulation-of-predatory-hawks-inhabiting-urban-areas

Thanks guys, I appreciate your support. That's me now for the day sending emails.
-
Day six and now it's beginning to slow down a little. But I'm sorry guys I refuse to let this go. I am surprised that lots of the bigger UK studs and bigger UK pigeon companies, have not even had the decency to respond to a simple email. Well stuff em, this just goes to show what they really think of the fancy. They have took from it for years and now it's time to give something back to us, they not interested. I have now decided to go further a field and enlist some of the help of the better well known European fanciers. So come on guys push this action all the way. I am even thinking of making an action list on the website, listing all the big companies I have sent emails to and the responses received. Thanks for your support guys, you are the true champions of the fancy

Good to have you aboard mate
-
That's true mate, but they are a little shy of coming forward at the mo. So we get their suppliers to join us and then ask them for a list of their stockists. Can you see where I'm coming from now
-
I'm no stranger to this kind of thing, I have helped do similar things in the past, obviously not on this scale. But our opponent was the local government. A little woodland where I used to play as young boy, was going to get flattened and redeveloped for houses. We were told, our protest didn't matter, it was a forgone conclusion and the land had been sold. We kicked up such a fuss, not many at first would join in because they said, the local Government was too powerful and we were just little people in their eyes. I said well lets be a little thorn and stick right in their ass. We protested for a year, we spent six months on our hands and knees in that wood looking for ways to stop the building. people from all over the country joined in the fight. Even people from opposite sides of the area who had feuded for years forgot their differences. We found red bellied newts, rare fungi and plants. The Woodland trust became involved. A year later, they built all around the parameter of that wood and made a new pond for the newts. Never under estimate, how powerful a hundred thousand voices can be. We can make a difference.

Taking The Petition To The Fancier
preston powerblast replied to preston powerblast's topic in Notice Board
That's the one guys, I'm all in favour of the paper petitions as it keeps the other side guessing. If fanciers wish to post em pm me I'll give em my address. Sod the secrecy, I'm not that hard to find.lol -
Cheers mate for your support. Rest assured fanciers, this action is going all the way. We just need everybody's support.
-
Cheers mate, we need push this as far as we can.
-
Cheers mate but it's early days yet. 319 signatures online, 240 on paper up to now. Big thanks to the guys who printed off the petition and emailed back to me completed. This is the action we need. Keep it up guys we can do this.

It is the most publicised auction site in the world, how can it not help. It will give our campaign, more exposure and credibility than any other campaign has ever had.Thousands of UK Fanciers go on that site, me included. This campaign is now, beginning to go somewhere. Why not look at the positives, instead of the negatives. We need to get the pigeon world to be seen supporting this. We are fighting against a very large organisation, we need powerful allies. I for one am much grateful for their support, it's a pity some UK high profile companies don't get behind us. This is a turning point for us and now the tide is turning in our favour.
