  1. The third race of the season was scheduled to be our first Channel race of the season from Carentan. After the birds had been dispatched we were notified that due to the low birdage and poor weather forecast the race would be switched to Honiton near Seaton to hopefully get an early lib before the weather set in. Unfortunately the promised early slot of good weather never materialised and we were in for a long wait, the decision to holdover was made after a fruitless wait for an improvement in the diabolical weather conditions. It was hoped for a lib late on Sunday but once again the weather refused to improve so the birds were held until Monday. Monday dawned no better but at least there was hope as better weather was forecast, the weather in the Portsmouth/Southampton area was indeed good but persistent rain and low cloud at the racepoint forced the transport to be moved to Kingsdown where a liberation was effected at 13.00 into a fresh SE wind, all this for a 90ml race. However all these shenanigans had no effect on the in-form loft of Bryce & Lloyd Scutt who recorded their hat-trick of wins doing 1146ypm plus 4th position as well, hot on their heels for the third time were the widowers of Barry Robertson who took 2nd & 3rd on 1124 & 1123ypm. Filling the top six positions were Pete Nightingale on 5th & John & Tom Austin coming in 6th with their first race of the season. Barry Robertson wins £40.00 pools and Cyril Hallett (CHEF) wins £14.00 pools Chris & Danny Willett & Gsons win the £10.00 side bet, a nice £70.00. All in all good returns despite all the problems.
  2. Not sure what you mean when you say the computer says the pigeon has not got an ets ring assigned to it. I use ECS to assign rings and after you have entered the rings , synchronised the clock and then assigned the rings you need to synchronize the clock back to the computer so that it has a record of ETS rings assigned to the life ring. If you don't do this the computer will not show any ETS ring assigned to that pigeon even though it has one in the clock. You can delete the ETS ring via the clock and Club System but the life ring No will stay in the clock until deleted from the ring register via the Club Computer.
  3. It was the first race of the season for the North Road from Windrush about 75ml to most with 8 members sending 90 birds. With fine weather and a helping wind a good race was expected and it didn't disappoint. Club Chairman 'Bomber' Mellis, normally a 'distance man' kicked off the season in fine style with Number One slot on 1562 (provisionally 4th Fed) close behind is friend and near neighbour Kevin & John Zerafa, 2nd & 3rd on 1558 & 1556 (this is a Son & Father partnership), in 4th & 5th is Show Organiser John Good on 1543 & 1542 in 6th Position we have the Welsh Wizard, Lee Willett who knows his pigeons collecting £60.00 for the £10.00 noms.
  4. It was on to race two from Honiton again (92mls ) with more birds being entered ,16 sent 198, but it didn't stop Bryce and son Lloyd Scutt from notching up another 1,2. 1628.7,1628.1 , hard on their heels yet again is Barry Robertson with 3rd & 4th a yd behind on 1627.4 & 1627.1 Jimmy Willett completed the top six on 1625 & 1613. Barry won the £5.00 pool £45.00 and yours truly Mick Johnson won £18.00 on the £2.00 Pool. An excellent race with good returns.

  7. Does Mysoft now allow you to download directly from the ETS (Unikon or Benzing) or do you have to manually input all the information.
  8. I have used Mysoft but changed to EastCoast Software solely because of its ETS compatibility with Unikon. The Pools facility and the ability to produce a Full Result (for the Fed) or a Nominated Club Positions result (whereby you have, say, the first six positions and then all members first bird and relevant pool birds) are two functions I miss. If you have a mix of Unikon & Benzing ETS and traditional clocking then I would go for EastCoast Software which has the ability to automatically download all ETS clocking details straight into the results programme at the press of a button and also allows for manual clock times to be easily inputted.
  9. What Result system do you currently use? Are you all Unikon?
  10. Honiton 1 (91 ml) 15 members sent 154 birds: Lib 09.10 NNE wind Sunny after a 1 day holdover 1st Bryce & Lloyd Scutt 2nd Bryce & lloyd Scutt 3rd Barry Robertson 4th Chris & Danny Willett & Grandsons 5th Bryce & Lloyd Scutt 6th Bryce & Lloyd Scutt An excellent race for Bryce & Lloyd starting at the top as they did last year. Yours truly, Mick Johnson won the A&B pools winning £52.00. A good race for most fanciers with good returns.

A lawyer boarded an airplane in New Orleans with a box of frozen crabs and asked a blonde stewardess to take care of them for him. She took the box and promised to put it in the crew's refrigerator. He advised her that he was holding her personally responsible for them staying frozen, mentioning in a very haughty manner that he was a lawyer, and proceeded to rant at her about what would happen if she let them thaw out. Needless to say, she was annoyed by his behaviour. Shortly before landing in New York , she used the intercom to announce to the entire cabin, "Would the lawyer who gave me the crabs in New Orleans please raise your hand?" Not one hand went up ..... so she took them home and ate them. Two lessons here: 1. Lawyers aren't as smart as they think they are. 2. Blondes aren't as dumb as most folks think.
  14. Here are the names L-R Mick Johnson (Sec.) Tom Austin,Albie Webb,Bryce Scutt, John Austin, George Johnson (Club President and still an active fancier at 92 years young), Bomber Mellis (Club Chairman),Cyril Hallett (Scribe 'CHEF'), John Good, Lloyd Scutt (ETS Secretary), Chris Willett & Lee Willett
  15. My 'trap' on the Widowhood Loft is just a drop down door with bolting wires on the inside which can be lifted up to allow the birds to exit. I use a small release hole like this as I don't want my 16 Cocks to fly out in one group as they have about 3 neighbours washing lines in their take off zone. I can do some closer photos if required.
  16. Hilsea Inv FC 1963 Prize Presentation with names: Standing L-R ;Dave Brooks, Johnie Elliott,Ron Byng,John Morgan,Vic Morgan,Les Betteridge,Harry Harman,Lennie Smith,Jimmy Mellis,John Byng & & Reg Betteridge Sitting; Jock Hutchinson,Roy Johnson,Mick Johnson (16),Albie Fleet, Joe Hopkins & Teddy Wells I'm afraid due to the passage of time at least 12 of these fine members are no longer with us, but they gave me welcoming and friendly start to my pigeon racing career
  17. The RPRA will still be issuing Ordnance Survey Lat/Long. They are allowing the use of Google Earth as a Secretarial option, the readings obtained will be converted to Ordnance Survey by the use of a software package to calculate distances. With the RPRA you don't get to pick and choose, once you have been remapped, that Loft Location is attached to your RPRA Loft No which is used by your Secretary whenever he applies for distances for you. I don't what system the Continentals use for their Loft Locating, it doesn't seem to have been a problem up to now as regards International Racing. Speaking personally I would like the RPRA to embrace Google Earth entirely, from my own observations Google Earth and GPS are very close (using a SatNav).

Black Testicles A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose, still heavily sedated from a difficult four hour surgical procedure A young student nurse appears to give him a partial sponge bath. Nurse,' he mumbles, from behind the mask 'Are my testicles black?' Embarrassed, the young nurse replies 'I don't know,Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body.' He struggles to ask again, 'Nurse, are my testicles black?' Concerned that he may elevate his vitals from worry about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and sheepishly pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his penis in one hand and his testicles in the other, lifting and moving them around and around gently. Then, she takes a close look and says, 'No sir, they aren't and I assure you, there's nothing wrong with them, Sir !!' The man pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her and says very slowly, 'Thank you very much. That was wonderful, but listen very, very closely..... ' A r e - m y - t e s t - r e s u l t s -b a c k ?'
  21. The RPRA are currently formulating the rule which will allow Google Earth to be used by Secretaries to obtain Loft Locations. This rule has been passed and will be in force following the March meeting. The Google Earth co-ordinates will be forwarded to the RPRA who will then use their software to provide an Ordnance Survey reading which they will use to produce distances. Mapping in the traditional way will still be used. Google Earth is optional.

    Unikon

When I phoned for my Code I asked about the update and was told it was only a Unikon Club Manager software update, nothing to do with the clocks. it only affects registering 2012 rings.

Michael and Gary got married in California. They couldn't afford a honeymoon so they go back to Michael's Mom and Dad's house in Corner Brook for their first married night together. > In the morning, Johnny , Michael 's little brother, gets up and has his breakfast, as he is going out of the door to go to school, he asks his mom if Michael and Gary are up yet. She replies, 'No'. Johnny asks, 'Do you know what I think?' His mom replies, 'I don't want to hear what you think! Just go to school.' Johnny comes home for lunch and asks his mom, 'Are Michael and Gary up yet?' She replies, 'No.' Johnny says, 'Do you know what I think?' His mom replies, 'Never mind what you think! Eat your lunch and go back to school ' After school, Johnny comes home and asks again, 'Are Michael and Gary up yet?' His mom says, 'No.' He asks, 'Do you know what I think?' His mom replies, 'OK, now tell me what you think.' He says: 'Last night Michael came to my room for the Vaseline and I think I gave him my airplane glue.'

    Joke

A man walks into Ann Summers to purchase some see-through lingerie for his wife. He is shown several possibilities that range from £50 to £150 in price, the more see-through, the higher the price. He opts for the sheerest item, pays the £150 and takes the lingerie home. He presents it to his wife and asks her to go upstairs, put it on and model it for him. Upstairs the wife thinks 'I have an idea. It's so see-through that it might as well be nothing. I won't put it on - I'll do the modelling naked, return it tomorrow, get a £150 refund and keep the money for myself'. So she appears naked at the top of the stairs and strikes a pose. The husband says; 'Stone me, it wasn't that creased in the shop'. His funeral is next Thursday.
  25. HAMPSHIRE TWO-BIRD CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB The Hants 2B CC recently held its 2011 Prize Presentation at the Wellow Golf Club when 36 guests and members sat down to a tasty 3-Course meal. The 46 Members competed for in 2011 the princely sums of £800.00 Prize Money (this from £15.00 Annual Fees and NO Birdage Charges) and £1383.75 Pool Monies. Previous Secretary, Roger Hurst, presented the prizes to the hardy souls that had braved the threatened snow to attend the do. Top Prize Winner was the well known flyer Robbie Jones who won 1st Bergerac, 1st Hastings YB and 1st Hastings OH and helped himself to the lion’s share of the Pools & Prize money. Club Chairman , Colin Edwards had an excellent season as well, winning 1st Cholet, 3rd Bergerac and 2nd Hastings OH. Plus Club Averages Colin’s Cholet winning hen had the distinction of winning not only his Club & Hants 2B, in a very hard race, but also the Solent Federation and the Wessex Combine (approx. 4,000 birds) which resulted in this hen winning the Southern Region RPRA Award 250-450 mls. She also has previous success with 6th Fed Fougeres & 9th Open BBC Bergerac. Truly a worthy Hampshire 2B Ch Club Champion. The first race of 2011 was from Fougeres which was won by Stan Brimecome with another tremendous performance and yet another ‘Champion’ for the Hants 2B. his pigeon won 1st Club,1st Hants 2B , 1st Solent Federation and, the icing on the cake, 1st Wessex Combine (3580 birds) This year the Club is guaranteeing £200 1st prize from Fougeres and £100 1st prize from Messac, Bergerac & Truro YB with a total Prize Pot of £1000.00 plus. All this for £15.00 can’t be bad. Robbie Jones with Gill & Roger Hurst Colin Edwards with Gill & Roger Hurst
