  1. The Duke of Wellington in 1845.
  2. Just like to say a big thankyou to Taylors Choice, ordered some goods yesterday morning just had them delivered, cant do better than that, thanks again.
  3. Paul and Moira White are very good freinds of ours infact we still travel down to visit Moi whenever we can because as you say Paul sadly passed away some years ago,Moi had a sale acouple of years after Pauls death and now as no birds there at all,she infact raced them the season after Paul passed away and was quite sucessfull with them.Paul had probabley one of the largest studs of Sion pigeons in the UK and won many shows all over including best racer at Blackpool in his later years,he was also a Very big eyesign man and won many shows and judged many times right up into Scotland.I purchased a few of his birds at the above sale to go with birds that Paul had given me before he died and am now getting quite a few around me which I hope will do well in the channel races.
  4. They were until a few years ago also very big in Ireland have a few pedigrees with Irish fanciers names on I,m sure some of our Irish members know Alec Crawford, most of my birds are related to his red hen he called "Mona Lisa" which I believe flew the channel many times.
  5. You are right Dr.Anderson was well known for the Bricouxs.
  6. The original Sion pigeons were founded by Paul Sion who lived in France and died in 1947,his son Robert Sion carried on with the birds after his father died.I have 1 or 2 books written by Chas Heitzman about the Sions he imported them into the USA in 1931. My avater is a Sion cock very simular in looks to a lot that I have.

    ets clubs

You have to use both in some of the International races or you cant compete.

    ets clubs

Think I mistook what you meant, members either use ETS or a clock not both, although saying that I think it was 1 of the International races where if you used ETS you also had to have the bird rubbered and clock the rubber in within 30 minutes of timing with the ETS.

    ets clubs

We still have some members in our club that still use the ordinary clock.
  10. I always remove mine but it could be a problem if you get them mixed up and put them back on the wrong bird, just something I always do though.
  11. I think the problem is if people leave name and address rings on and judges give cards to these birds the people who dont win soon start saying the judge knew who,s bird it was etc etc and it soon causes trouble, except for the life ring I personally think all other rings should be removed when showing, saves hassle afterwards.

    unikon rings

Yes they can be reasigned but you will need to keep a check on what birds they come off as they will still be in your clock and need to be deleted before you have them assigned to another bird,if they are Unikon rings a 50p piece is ideal for removing them.
  13. Personally I dont even leave the ets ring on a bird that I,m entering into a show.
  14. Would agree with the above, the people who are running the show should stipulate when the birds are entered weather or not any other ring should be left on the bird, shouldnt be the judges responsability to mark the bird down.
  15. No didnt buy anything basically only went to have a look as I was in Durham and had a couple of hours to spare.
  16. Managed to go and have a look for about 1 1/2 hours,3 highest birds when I was there went for £1000,£900 and £700,most were fetching between 1 + 2 hundred.
  17. Well I must have the fastest dart have a look at the time for the second sheep,
  18. Anyone attending this sale tomorrow.
  19. I agree with some of what you say BUT,the last three races of the season I had no end of trouble trying to get a signal on the Unikon base,we have been using this for 3 seasons so we know what we are doing and nothing as changed but I had to keep trying for ages before it was any use.
  20. I allways enjoy going to the shows big or small.
  21. Must admit I never show my cocks their hens before sending to a race,I think yearlings especially get very stressed by showing them their hens, when I train I allways make sure the hens are waiting in their boxes when they return so I think they know this when basketing for a race.
  22. Been every year since its been there and planned to go this year as well,as some say not that big but still a day out and a chance to pick up different things off the stalls.
  23. Nice to see one of the old members come back on (didnt mean age wise Carol)hope you are well.
  24. DH1 1AL.
  25. Thought I would have a look as I will be about 10 minutes from the venue and with a couple of hours to kill what could be better than to go and see some good birds,I dont suppose its possible for anyone to email or send me a copy of the sale list is it,think it might be a bit late to post off for one.
