    bull box system

I dare say you all know the basic idea of the bull box but if not i will try to explain, the box i had was about 6foot long and about 2 feet high,it was made up of two boxes either end which you kept the hens in and one large section in the middle for the cock, the cock would be your best breeding cock and 4 hens which you wanted to pair to him,the idea was to let 1 of the hens in with the cock at a time so that he could tread them so you would finish up with 4 pairs of eggs in one go,you had to have other pairs ready to put the eggs under but it meant you would have eight youngsters off your best cock at a time,if you wanted you could then put 4 differant hens to him meaning you could do 2 or 3 years breeding off your best cock in 1 season and the youngsters would be all half brother and sister so you could then pair them back to one another to create a family basically around your best cock bird.I will see if i can find the video and if anyone is interested i will send it out to them and then they can send it on to the next person.

    Stock birds

Amazes me that someone might spend a couple of hundred pounds on a stock bird and then wont spend another 20p or so to protect it.
  9. I believe that is the guy who advertises about once a year in one of the weeklies,in fact i have just found his advert in the racing pigeon dated 24/11/06 if anyones interested.

    Stock birds

Personally i would say yes as i do all my birds stock as well every year,i allways think how i would ever forgive myself if my stock birds did catch something.
  11. Cheers Tam thats just about the answear i was going to give Coxy.
  12. Nice simple constuction mate, like the corrugated sheets for the roof i have allways liked those gives plenty of ventilation, only thing i think i would have is some more ventilation across the bottom of the loft.
  13. Got to be the eyesign theory for me,whenever i purchase a bird for breeding i only go by the eye also when i pair my stock birds i try to pair them by the eye only,it as worked for me.
  14. There used to be a guy that had a advert in one of the pigeon weeklies about once a year that had the westcotts,i cant remember if he had one in this last year or not though, perhaps someone out there can remember his name.
  15. Only one thing i look at when buying a pigeon thats the eye.
  16. I guess the people who voted that way would only buy the bird that as the pedigree, personally myself i would take no notice of either as i only buy a pigeon for stock if i think it as the eye which i consider will breed me good birds, and up to now i have been very successfull in what i have chosen.
  17. This is exactly the way i see it but it would be interesting to know what the thinking is of a person that wouldn,t buy a pigeon without a pedigree.
  18. I would be very interested to read what the 7 people on here who said that they wouldn,t buy a pigeon without a pedigree have to say,how about it lads or lasses give us your reasons why, i really would be interested to know.
  19. I dont think that the integrity of the breeder or racer of a pigeon is what the question is about here it,s wether or not you rely on the pedigree to be a guidance as to wether the bird will be a winner or breeder of winners.
  20. Just wondering how many thousands of pounds will be spent (WASTED)this weekend by people relying on pedigrees.
  21. Just searched all through the 2006 ring list cant find any clubs in sunderland or tyne and wear,i think they all belong to the nehu around that area.
  22. You are obviously right as you know about the case Tony but i do know of feds that are doing this and have been for some time,i guess if everyone is happy about it then there are no problems unless there is someone who is not happy then by the look of it the union would throw it out if challenged.
  23. I dont think you are right on this one,if the majority of your fed vote it in i think you will find that there is no rule in the rpra that prevents this.
  24. As i say archie it,s o.k. if you can afford to pay £195 up front but i guess some will find it difficult, surely this cant go through if it wasn,t on the agenda,it should of been sent out to the clubs to discuss first then had another meeting for it to be voted on.
  25. To me this is o.k. if the members are in the position to be able to pay the £143 up front, what i cant understand though is how can something like this be voted on at the A.G.M.when it was not even on the agenda it certainly wouldn,t have been aloud in our fed.Perhaps someone from the fife fed can enlighten us on that.
