    i think you right protein to rebuild after hard work, then 3 weeks prior fats and carbs and like you say peanut oil can replace the fat mix and barley and wheat are full of carbs, i just would rather add maize and fat seeds as i think they will eat more maize and it important that they eat well leading up to basketing.. but the idea is the same

    i think fats are more inportant the last 10 days before a 5-600 mile race than beans or peas,
  13. hemp straw for me £8.90 a bag then every couple of weeks poultry powder sprinkled on top , with deep litter to many birds in a section mess to much and do not give the litter time to start working correctly

    for last feeds use sunflower, rape and chopped peanuts, and pop corn maize which can all be bought in small amounts off the high street as a base buy vesle laga super widow and add a straight barley to it depending on the work the birds are doing
  15. velocity's are higher in the year books than they were years ago , 500 mile races have higher number of birds on the night than before as well
  16. i think in a 6 by 4 foot you couls house 18 ybs one thing i would say is try to get them around the same age

  19. cheers old yellow , just purchased mine local and they dont stock the wire so i will have to look out for the fencing wire
  20. teaching about pigeons in a primary school and round a fanciers loft , only caught a bit of it
  21. whats the best cord to run through bob wires i have used the plastic coated garden string but they seem to drop a little and in places become like a upside down v thanks
  22. let them out 2 hours before your late shift and as soon as you get home from your early shift for about 1 and half hours
