  1. 8) 8) YOU MUST HAVE MONEY TO BURN 60 RINGS = £9.00 = £2.50 UNION SUBS IF YOU WERE IN THE NWHU. Are you sure your a yorkshire man or has the flu jab taken hold of you? ;D :D ??)
  2. Without News, No Newspapers, Newt to Wrap Up The Fisn N Chips. No joking aside I think this thread will run with some interest for some time to come because in some small way it does affect us all if we think about it.
  3. IVERMECTIN- An acceptable solution. having read and engaged with this thread over the last few days. I may have an acceptable solution as to why some fanciers claim that Ivermectin does NOT kill hawks and also some fanciers claim that it definately does, well to confuse you even more you are ALL right. The answer lies in which brand name product that was used. Not too long ago the RSPB lobbied goverment ministers to withdraw the manufacturing licence on a company producing a product named "IVOMEC" yes the base ingredient was Ivermectin they also mixed into the solution 2 or 3 phosphates, it was these that were killing the hawks faster than the RSPB could breed and release them. The product was absolutely lethal against birds of prey. The goverment refused their demands the RSPB the issued a writ asking them to demand the removal of these phosphates by the manufacturer, this again was not adhered too. The product "IVOMEC" is slightly more expensive than other brands, but it does a lot more than it says on the can.Incidently it is marketed in a gold coloured box and is obviously a POM product but with some tact can be purchased at farm / country stores especially if YOU HAD A GOAT that required worming, and we all keep a goat to keep the grass down, don't we....................well get my gist? I hope this is understandable.
  4. WELL WHAT DID YOU HONESTLY EXPECT? they reacted just as you expected. We should have appointed Victor Meldrew as General Manager at least when he cocked up you'd get "I just can't believe it" and we would get a few laughs along the way. But in reality all the blame lies with those that appointed them and at least were not at fault because as usual we did not get a say in the matter. In the words of President Obama "Change has come" time to build those bridges, well we cant build our bridges because they're still a burning inferno.
  5. Dur to the high volume of PM's I submit the following which was given to me by the late David Palmer (Vertrinary). Eqvalan (Horse Paste). Recommended doseage rate for racing pigeons is as follows:- Squeeze 1" of the paste (these are marked onto the syringe itself) and mix into a small amount of warm water (NOT HOT), when the paste is dissolved add further amounts of water until the total volume reaches 2 PINTS.(this amount will treat approx 25 pigeons) DO NOT TREAT BIRDS THAT ARE REARING YOUNGSTERS IN THE NEST. For worm / parasite infestations renew the treatment after 10 - 14 days after the initial treatment, once treated this should remain in the birds bloodstream for approx 12 months (1 Year), therefore issue treatment on a annual basis. *Ivermectin, the active ingrediant of EQVALAN Horse Paste is produced from a natural occuring fungus ( Streptomyces Avermitilis). This product is marketed by Merial Animal Health Limited and can be aquired from Agricultural / Farmers and Horse provision outlets. Its a POM classified product so be tactful when purchasing (the strength of Ivermectin used in this product is 1.87%). I am a only a pigeon fancier, and I am prepare to share this with fellow fanciers, I have used this in the past and find it much more effective that the drops or injection variables. Used as directed it is an effective product. I would also like to make clear that once the birds have had 1 drink of the medicated water they are treated, if the drinker is empty after they have recieved their feed just top back up with fresh water. I hope you find this information of general interest.
  6. Take your pick mate does'nt matter really just has long as they have a passport?
  7. Alternatively there is another product you can use its Evalan Horse Paste, again the active ingrediant is Ivermectin ( the main ingrediant in Ivermectin is derived from a very poisonous wild mushroom, that grows in the Australian outback) it was the late David Palmer that advised me to try it on a team of young birds, you mix with the drinking water and they only need to ingest one drink of the concotion which saves on handling the birds. If any fancier requires the correct doseage rate, please send me a pm and I'll send it onto you. You can usually purchase from agricultural / horse outlets.
  8. Well the dust has now well and truly settled, and we have a true picture but not surprisingly not a mention of their secret meeting held last friday, other websites are telling that "the powers that be" have passed all T3 clocks to be used without thimbles subject to a drum changeover.Have I just awoke out of a coma, but here we go again passing new rules before an AGM? have they not learned from the ETS fiasco. How many members that contribute finance were allowed to vote on whether we wanted this conversion being approved not only that approved by whome, cannot be "the powers that be" for non of them race. Its no good, they keep on making embarrasing mistakes they do'nt learn from them, last year the bathwater ran lukewarm, only just tolerable but today its stone cold, time to get to the meetings and discharged these charlatans like a firework, one PUFF and there gone.If it was oh so easy? Its wednesday today and some of the elite will be reading their BHW at breakfast, I bet the top feature writer is missing again, time for change the Racing Pigeon always allowed freedom of the press thats why it shall regain its title it so rightly deserves Britains No1 Racing Pigeon Newspaper. Ive ordered mine, have YOU?
  9. Well our mounty friend has a sense of humour, so have we fanciers here in the uk. It may well be cold, damp and dark but unlike you we do'nt have our babies in nests, ;D we wheel them our around in prams!
  10. If you get to a hundred, you have made it, there are not many die after that age ( the late and wonderful george burns). Beware of the old age pigeons, old aged pigeon fanciers they keep many old birds around them to make them feel young, its youth you need on your side.Next time your out shopping with the missus and a teenage mother passes you by pushing her child in a pram take note of the robust and healthy baby she has produced. Now thats what we all want? no not babies strong youngsters from virgin stock. (somehow I know I've opened a can of worms up here, before I press the submit button) hear goes boys..!

    guessin game

HONEY POT, (warm, sticky & sweet) those were the days boys, dream on!
  12. BEWARE OF THE DOGS! be careful when using it, I watched a farmer using this on his sheep and afterwards grabbed one of the collies which had been scracthing all afternoon, he placed a small drop of it between the dogs shoulders and within 15 minutes the dog was dead.
  13. Get rid of any stock bird over 3 yrs of age, that has not bred anything decent, the game is hard enough and it will save your pocket having to payout for expensive to feed mediocre stock, the way forwards is always quality and not quantity. The problem with old stock birds is the quality of milk seems to be always poor no matter how you supplement their feed. I once remember reading an article somewhere relating to a theosis study carried out on teams of stock birds at various lofts in many locations and the results showed that more winners were produced by yearlings than anyother combination. Take a look in your own loft next year and watch the quality and the rate of which they grow from your yearling pairings, if you do so you will have answered this question yourself. Its a fascinating game and you can be given advice readily but there is nothing to beat the experience you endure within the four walls of your own loft. I hope this may have been the answer you are looking for.
  14. Well, well there still has not been any news regards the "I'll be doomed meeting" held on friday, maybe they could'nt agree to find a nominee or could it be they voted unanimously for the classic "Ostrich Syndrome" nothing has happened boys if we pretend that it's not happened it will go away and everything will be okay, nobody will notice. I think they'll find it will not and as usual we will all have to wait for the new GM to roll up his sleeves and try to clear the dirty washing he's been left, now that roadrunner has cleared his desk and sped off into the darkness showing off his new car, that we paid for out of all the petty cash we keep being told that we have invested for OUR future. Roland is absolutely right, no use whinging on here lets all get to the meetings, propose the lot of them out and lets have a new clean start with the candidates we choose to run OUR organisation, I have no problem with that at all.
  15. No problems getting the birds to exercise, they fly extremely well, when I want to trap them I just remove the photo of the mother in law from of the landing board, just to think my missus will end up as ugly as her one day? I think I'll be a pigeon widow and get divorced before its to late?

    SNFC /RPRA

The SNFC has always been redeemed as the best national, the radius, the geographical terrain and the club adorn's some of the best distance flyers in the world within its ranks. Along with this the club has a great history associated with it going back over a long period of time."Time Awaits No Man" and although history suggests that we embrace change for the better, you also have to saviour the long history of this club and what it stands for, you ask yourself before making change, would those early founder pioneer's have wanted the club to go down this path? Would change be better or worse for the club? Maybe I am a bit nostalgic trying to protect the past and reluctant to embrace the future, but the great traditions of everything associated with this club in my opinion I think that whatever happens the members of the SNFC should decide its future, whether you pay fees to the rpra / shu or any other organisation that too, is up to the members to decide upon, bearing in mind the club is the most prestigeous club in Scotland, so why are you paying fees to an english organisation, these fees should be payable to your own Union, the Scottish Homing Union, I may have tread on someone's toes here, it was not my intention to do so, it is only my neutral opinion of the way that I see it.
  17. If we were in the same posistion as KJ we would be advised by our legal team to make no comment on this matter. She has not froze us out, nor turned her back towards us, its quite simply she's been advised not to release a statement of discuss the case with anyone other than her legal team. And who can blame her, there are more "old guard" curtain twitchers on this site than soldiers in "Dads Army" now that the heat is about to be turned up just watch the little old blighters run for cover. "YOU'LL ALL BE DOOMED" just make sure they do not penetrate membership into the promised land, keep em out!
  18. It is usual protocol to advise clients entering into litigation against their employers to be prescripted discharged on medical grounds. it is also additional proof that she has encountered health problems due to the stress caused by her employers, this also give her counsel extra time needed to prepare papers for her defence when the case goes to court. Quite naturally we understand it will be an anxious time for both parties until a verdict is reached.
  19. Thought for today, not long ago the same sort of feeling was vented at the SNFC a very prestigous club with some fine members, the discontenment voiced at several meetings led to a new club being formed, the sucessful SNRPC. Many years ago the same discontenment was voiced at the RNHU, Major Lewis spent a full weekend up here in the north west pleading with fanciers asking them not to form a breakaway union. The North West Homing Union was formed. Not long ago one of the worlds wealthiest finance institutions declared bankruptcy, an absolutely unbelievable event to occur. The thought I leave with you, is a s in life things do'nt last forever, change does often occur even when the heart won't accept it, maybe its time for the old rpra to go, whether that be through lack of financial support from the membership or the event of competition of a new organisation or an organisation already in the market place attracting membership growth and through this grows bigger, stronger being the new market leader.Whatever does evolve its requires comittment and support from its membership, yes there's a lot to think about but who do you support? the old or maybe the new..............
  20. Will the BHW be out tomorrow, that depends on where you live, we got ours today and I believe some got theirs on wednesday? How come you ask? Its a bit like blood pressure they blame it on circulation. I suppose we should not complain there are them who do'nt get it at all, like myself stopped it years ago............ tryed it on the back of the bog door and it brought the wife's bum out in a nasty rash, of course she blamed me said I was'nt showering myself enough..........................
  21. Now who is waking up and smelling the coffee, "the silence of the lambs" has always gone on, the galloping major was repeatedly named as being the "controller of the press" he's long gone, then they blamed poor old ernie he's gone too, now we have a decent chap as editor but we have no presses to run anymore, the magazine is printed elsewhere at no extra cost to you? ( so why does the price keep increasing). The Racing Pigeon was the No.1 magazine for the sport until we purchased the BHW as an investment then everyone was amusingly convinced that if we subscribe to the book we would all benefit from the profits (read that last line again) what profits? Yes there is an alternative, some rightly say it is a paper that covers the sport in the south of england, well to a degree you have a point But if the scribes wrote articles for it and the fanciers subscribed to it would'nt that put it back where it belongs, in the No.1 spot. Should there be a "silence of the lambs" attitude applied to our Karen then I'm sure the Racing Pigeon would gladly welcome her on board as their feature writer. Now then who was it that took the decision to suspend her, even you are accountable, we the members pay your wages and after this matter has been resolved, I think you'll find yourself seeking employment, " life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get" in your case .................................. the boot!
  22. STOP RIGHT THERE! Should anything less than Mrs.James be reinstated with compensation for loss of wages, plus additional awards of monies, for the stress / health/ inconveiniance that her employers have caused her. If she was my client I would advise her to submit an additional claim of victimisation against her current employer, now understanding all the facts of the case there is not a shadow of doubt in my mind that the case would succeed on the presentation of proven / factual evidence alone. Food for Thought?
  23. Can anyone out there relate to H.M. Employment Protection Act 1975 and tell me where it says "an employee has not the freedom of speech against his/her employer" and just for the record the contract of employment that we all have to sign these days is not worth the paper it is written on, ask any legal beagle and they just laugh at you. I would suggest that should anyone with broad shoulders at the rpra decide to take this case to a final stage and dismiss Mrs James, they themselves would later be sacked themselves for gross negligence of duty. The award of damages awarded to Mrs James at a tribunal for wrongful dismissal would be enormous. Now I ask you where is that amount of money going to be allocated from? Its no use standing there with your hands in your pockets ! DIG DEEP LADS they'll be round with a collection bucket and funnily enough all the brainwashed "Old Guard" will put into it as they regard it as their duty to do so. In the words of Arni ( another great leader) "I'll be back" my tea is awaiting me.
  24. Back to Basics, yes the alternative is there for you all to grasp, its been there for some good 35yrs now and enjoying membership growth. You will always find a very helpful voice at the end of the phone, everything is delivered on time and your transfers are by return of post, you cannot knock it till you have tried it.Trust me guys you have nothing to loose, we have recieved applications for full federations to join us, yes the evacuation has begun, but it will be interesting to see how the old guard react, most probably we won't notice any change at all they call it "Ostrich Syndrome" bury your heads deep enough gentlemen and there is risk you'll stop breathing? The future's bright, the future's NWHU, get on board now!
  25. Who is going to foot the bill for the refit? not out the members pockets again! What happened to our investment into the BHW when we purchased it is was a secure investment to make the future of the RNHU as it was at that time very secure for ots forseeable future. What happened to the purchase and letting out of Selby House yes, that was another fine investment for a secure future of our sport. Why do we not get a individual balance sheets for the BHW / RPRA accounts for they areregistered as two seperate businesses, ask the inland revenue? All these so called investments in the short term made us money, but where has this generated wealth gone. It won't be too long before another BHW show is upon us, all the profits will be given away again for a nice photo shoot of some old guys in suits that once kept pigeons. That generated show profit needs to be pumped back into refitting a badly mis managed ship. But its no use going on about it between ourselves guys, because the membership are no longer listened too and more hurtful than this is WE NO LONGER MATTER.I'm sorry but this rpra monster has bitten once too often its time to put her to sleep......
