  1. What I've said has served me well but each year I raise the bar and me four year old won as a babby. I will not for one minute disagree with the above coment though.
  2. I dunno but I think you get more pieds and white's by inbreeding. Kind of think if you get two inbred whites, from different families there should be a good chance you will throw good young 'uns. I'm gonna give it a go we will see.
  3. Open hole is the best if you are cat and hawk free. I used to be, living in the sticks, but like most I live in the town now. No hope of open hole any more.
  4. Champion Virgo was indeed a white Kirpatrick and a national winner to boot. I have a near white Kirky x Spangle winner flown Perth Pau and Palamos. He has been hawked twice but then so have others in the pen. I have bought three white Busschaerts from Massarella, but then the Busschaerts have also flown Perth and Pau and scored. Good pigeons are good pigeons what ever colour or strain.
  5. I like this mate. You don't know what stress is till you have suffered with it. The glass of water story is great.
  6. Put me down for one as well (distance)
  7. Seems not to matter what strain but the Buschaerts and Kirkpatricks have served me well, There are some Aardens on here for sale that could do you some good.
  8. Yes I was there this morning at 9 45 and picked up three I bought on the net. Have done this previously and I am pleased with what I have, 5 in total Got home and one went over my head and out the door. Doh :B
  9. Had birds 25 years and never been am I missing something.
  10. Further more I don't pretend to be able to pick that one pigeon from 160, If you know a man that can I'd like to meet him.
  11. If I have 1 four year old and have bred 40 per year for the last 4 years. That makes 98% figure seem too small to me. Winners have come and gone. but he is the only one that has stood the test of time, winning inland, flying Perth on the north, Pau and Palamos on the south. I have bought stock in last year, as we moved house. These stock birds will be out next year whatever. I aint got the room, and if they are any good the blood will show and quality will tell. I wouldn't sell anything at any price if it were not good eneough for me.
  12. Well I collect three whites from Louella tomorrow. The Buschearts have served me well at Tarbes and Pau, and I have a light grizzle Kirkpatrick that flew Perth Pau and Palamos, however he was hawked at Tours and Perth. Don't see anything in colour, other than pretty pigeons will help keep the neighbours off your back.
  13. Well done you guys. That's what it's all about. I think Ben will be able to afford his subs and a bag o' corn.
  14. Yes, gave a pair away, and asked fancier to donate to site if he liked 'em. Why ? Cos I'm always on it.
  15. Ya silly bugger I already bid £40
  16. Ben, best o' luck mate, the sport is dyeing and we need ya. Weather I get the bird or not.
  17. Ben I guess the bird is worth £30 but I recon to keep you in the fancy I will offer £40 collected from Blackpool by one of the best fanciers in the country (not me ;D) Would hope you get more but that's eneough for me. Best o' luck.
  18. Kind of think you guys are missing my point, as what I am saying is why should two clubs go to the same race. Should the BBC go to the international then mine will go with the BICC. Result one less for BBC. These clubs can only exist if they fill a need. I will stick by my decision as for me these two clubs offer the best racing around.
  19. Will bid £30 if I can meet you at Jct 2 M5 Mcdonalds on your way to or from Blackpool. Best o luck Ben.
  20. In the press and fancy generaly at this time of year people are planning race programs! Proppositions have gone forward to the BBC to race with the international from Barcelona. I voted against! Whilst I would like to see as many birds as possible go to the Barcelona international, I realy feel this would be a bad idea as we would be copying another club the BICC and go to the same race. I joined these two clubs as I felt they were both offering an excellent race program and doing a good job. Last year I had the choice of going with either. When the bird flu came about these two clubs made a great job of managing a bad situation. This for me contrasted greatly with NFC and MNFC of which I was a member at the time. The question is why would you want to step on the toes of another club offering the fancy less choice. In some areas we have two or more feds racing near identical programs that must be mad and will surely lead to the demise of our sport.
  21. Young birds to do 250 + miles Yearlings 350 + miles Two year olds 500 + miles Three year olds 600/770 miles I have one four year old ;D
  22. Warwick fed do similar then 20p a bird works well
  23. I like Ivermectin. A local vet made it up to suit our birds, all our club used it. I like collies too but have heard the two don't mix.
  24. If you have old stock that have bred the goods in the past put 'em to something younger may be. Take it from an old 'un a young bird will soon put lead in your pencil
  25. No this is what I have in my pen.
