  1. Courtesy costs nothing Yeah, and likewise with fanciers who have their birds returned to them! I've kept a racer for a week and fed it up, I then arranged for a friend to take it 50 miles away from here and towards its loft. I contacted the owner, told him I was releasing it that day and asked him to let me know when it returned safely.......not a word ...not even a call to say it didnt return! GRRR :X
  2. Sunny but begining to cloud over. light W wind.
  3. Westerhope, Newcastle.
  4. The owner contacted me tonight, the bird was flying back from France and must have been pushed over here by the East wind. She has already won a 1st and 3rd for him. I'm keeping the bird for another three weeks, to give it's leg time to heal, then shall have a word with Gangstrax. Thanks for your help Redcheqhen. Sue
  5. Thanks very much. I'll give it a try and update you on the outcome. :)
  6. Anyone? :-/ :-/
  7. Thanks guys. I've taken the splint off, well actually, I'd put it on so badly it almost fell off! :B She is in a cage, on easibed, with food and water. I've posted the ring number so hope can contact owner soon. NEHU 2008 Z559
  8. Lovely little hen, handed to me by non fancier. It has been wired, has a very swollen abdomen and a broken leg. Please can anyone help me to contact the owner? Thank.
  9. I have been given a wired NEHU bird this afternoon by a non fancier. It's leg is broken under the ring. I have been advised to splint it but, although I've tried, I think I've made a bad job of it. :B Would it be better left to heal naturally? The bird isn't taking its weight on the leg even though I've splinted it. I've also managed to cover the ring number so I can't report it yet. Its a hen, a gay pied blue and white checker (or something like that I was told). It's a lovely hen and deserves a chance to get home.
  10. Aarrrgh! I've been sussed. Having read that the mods can watch who is on the site and every time they log on, I think that it will be known that I am an addict.......A PIGEON BASICS addict!!! ;D ;D ;D
  11. Friend of mine has had his two best birds taken by percy. > He saw it happen each time and reckoned that it was because the bird was separate ie out in front of the rest of the flock. :-/
  12. Well that sounds a lot better and there's still time for some others to work their way back......
  13. Thanks Lindsay. Sue :)
  14. Walked in as though it's lived in the loft all it's life!! ;D Redcheqhen to the rescue again?? Do you have a number and....where do you get these numbers from?? Thanks Sue
  15. Good luck Beckie, let us know the outcome.
  16. Sorted - she's been missing for two weeks. I'm going to try tossing her well away from here, on a good day and, if she comes back to me, the owner wants to send for her.
  17. WOW! That was fast! Thanks very much. Sue :)
  18. Has been here six days now, fed and watered but showing no signs of going! She is going in the dovecote now with my fantails!! : Can anyone help with a phone number please.
  19. Thanks you for caring Becky. I guess that you could try the RSPCA though, if there's no publicity in it for them, they might not want to know.... hmmm, how about the local paper? It must be worth a story ...Poor thing, I wonder how it got in there :-/
  20. A happy ending to the 'story'. :)
  21. Rain, sometimes heavy. Strong east wind.
  22. Good luck in getting more back.

How big is a rat hole? I have a hole at the bottom of the garden, well away from the loft. Its only about 1" diameter, I put a stone over it but, whatever lives there dug its way out again, at the side of the stone. I've never seen any rodents or their dropping so I'm not too concerned, just wondered??? :-/
  24. Good call. People tend not to give garden fantails grit, they pick around the ground and find it but I bet it doesn't have any calcium in it!
  25. Concussion - might have flown into a window?? :-/
