  1. Hear hear. I love this site, I spend hours reading and learning. Thanks Richard and all who contribute to the successful running of Pigeon Basics. Sue
  2. Congratulations. Do you want a white dove release? ;D
  3. I tend to just rinse them out as I change the water. Every now and then, when they feel slimy, I bleach them.
  4. Tractorboy said he would have some ready mid May. Welcome back George
  5. Yes you can, some fanciers use the babies in the nest as a motivation for the OBs to return fast. The only thing is, if you loose the parents training, you will loose the babies too, unless you can foster them out.
  6. I'd already put it on. It was one of the first things I was told.
  7. Baby with punctured air sac before and after releasing air with a needle. Not one of mine - seen on Pigeontalk.com.
  8. NE Lancs clear blue sky good visibility and no wind.
  9. A great offer Deborah. Well done Les.
  10. Hi Deb, I have sent you a PM. Sue
  11. NE Lancs blue skies, no wind, good visibility. Good luck all racing today. :)
  12. Looking good Lee. Just need another pair of whites and you're set! ;D
  13. Don't have your YBs out on race days, they might go with the racers and get pulled too far away from your loft to find their way home.
  14. The birds like routine, try to feed around the same time each day.
  15. I don't name my racers, being pure white they are difficult to recognise unless they are in their nest boxes where I can then see their different characters - those that don't mind me handling their young, those that wing slap and peck at me. I usually stroke the side of their head - some like it, some object. ;D;D! The ones I have named and are especially tame (they fly to me when they see me coming, even right across the field) are my garden fantails - big mistake - the Sparrowhawk has taken two hens within a month. It doesn't do to become too attached, it's always the favourites that seem to 'go'.
  16. Erm, mine don't.
  17. Sheet of plywood hinged to the ceiling.
  18. Sorry, I can't remember ...it was on last month!!
  19. Put the bath out when its raining they'll go down into it then.
  20. The best hen (2 years old) in my loft produced empty eggs all last year. This year I changed the cock and she laid three rounds all empty again but, at last she's got two full eggs!! I've no idea why. :-/ :-/
  21. Terrible news. The poor birds and poor man. :'( :'( :'(
  22. Thanks, I'll give it a go.
  23. Is it both that do this or just the cocks? I've noticed that one always seems to rear up more than the other.
  24. And if you watch, the same present is in every multiple of 9, the present changes every time you play another game. Clever though - took me a while to work it out! :
