  1. Don't rush things!! I've learnt my lesson the hard way. One baby killed and one egg smashed Only 3 (and hopefully 5 tomorrow) hatched out of a potential 14! :'( :'(
  2. Congratulationa Storm Rollers and other half. So, when is he due to hatch? ;D
  3. Thanks Craig. :K) :K)
  4. Does anyone know Mick Hibbert of Logic Lofts website address please?
  5. Sorry you've lost them I lost my first mature Logans after having them for six days!! After about three days one returned to the house roof. I put down a trail of seeds leading into the loft and it followed them in. Don't give up hope there's time yet. Did you ever put your birds outside the loft so that they could look at it from outside? Best next time to put them out before they can fly, sit them on the landing board for half an hour then call them in for food so they learn how trap. I do this every day and keep an eye on them, they go to the loft roof and then the house roof. The more time they have looking around the more chance they can find their way home. Don't frighten them let them fly when they're ready. Hope they return.
  6. They all look very nice to me!! How can you tell a pigeon is in good condition just from a photo? :-/ I know that their feathers should be tight and not puffed up but, that's the extent of my knowledge!! :B
  7. Hi Robbo, A warm welcome to PB. :)
  8. > > This is just what I am finding!! I've been away today and come home to find a squab hatched and dead, the other egg piped but stone cold out of the nestbowl! > The cock has been fighting and the guilty culprit? That b***** cock from the bottom nestbox! > > He'd be out of the stock loft now if he wasn't sitting eggs....he's locked in now and I'll let him out under supervision in future!!
  9. WOW!! One of the hens had previously been paired to a cock which I lost last Monday. It has returned today after EIGHT days out!! It's very weak - feels to weigh nothing but - where has it been? It was only released 6 miles from home and has never gone wrong before!! So, I'll give the cock a few days to recover then reintroduce him to his hen. :) Thanks everyone for your advice. :K) :K)
  10. Will PM you Zech.
  11. Thanks Ryan. :K)
  12. Well, thank you, I'm flattered! I'm not sure the experienced fanciers would agree with you but I love them. I'm relatively new to pigeons and these were the first ones I bred, I'm not racing them yet. I've not had any problem with hawks until the last month when I've lost a few.
  13. :o So, why will their eggs be infertile if they mate with the other cocks? :B :-/
  14. I have two spare hens which are living in, what will become, the YB loft. One appears to be driving the other, can they have paired? Is it possible to put them in the breeding loft, give them a nest box and hope one of the cocks mates with them? Would they be able to defend their box and rear young?
  15. So do you mean they need to be out of the nest box more? I did see some of them treading in the box. :-/
  16. They didn't get vitamin E - just Kirkpatrick's minerals and red clay pick. They were in the boxes for a couple of weeks till I got them stayed. One egg may have got cold - it started developing then stopped. No rodents in my loft!!
  17. I paired my yearlings on 3rd January. By 17th they'd all laid but, out of 14 eggs only 8 are filled!! Is this usual with yearlings? Did I do something wrong? :-/
  18. I put them down onto the breeding loft floor at between 14 and 21 days and the all the cocks feed them - doesn't seem to matter whose babies they are!. The parents can then lay in the same nest pan. You need to watch for the cock driving hard then you'll know the hen will lay soon.
  19. LOL Craig!! ;D ;D Only one converted garden shed. :B I'll not race this year but maybe next when I've bred some 'real crackers' ;D
  20. What do you mean? There's no problem with flying breeders? There is for me! I haven't enough birds to risk loosing them(and consequently their eggs).
  21. A lot!!! Seriously Craig, I'm not too sure yet. I might fly celibate cocks, I need to breed a lot more than last year to do releases. I'll need a team to fly plus a team to breed. At the moment. I'm flying my breeders which is not good!
  22. The cock I lost, the hen is fine and sitting on eggs. A pair of youngsters will be coming your way ....
  23. Do you have the Ladybird version of this? I'm glad mine are pure white! Less confusing! ;D
  24. Have a great time all those of you going. Hold tight to your wallets......save enough for the petrol/trainfare home!
  25. My white Logans. Yearlings waiting to be paired up!!
