  1. Hmm, can't really remember how long they took to grow - maybe three/four weeks. I moved the baby and its nest mate into the young bird loft and then allowed it's father in three times a day to feed it. My young birds are in the same loft as the breeders - separated by a wall so the cock just had to run through the door - it soon got the hang of what to do!
  2. I had a youngster scalped this time. The feathers have regrown and you can't see where the damage was but, it's put the bird back - it's not yet flying out with others the same age. I hope in time it will catch up! :-/
  3. It cost me £50 last year for the chimney sweep to fix a wire cowl on!! Make sure you get a quote if you're not doing it yourself. And if you are, be careful up that ladder - I came off one and fractured my skull!! I don't 'do' ladders any more!!
  4. Do you have someone at home checking that they return singly? I thought that mine were clearing straight away until I realised that they were returning home together!! :B
  5. I don't think that one minute between releases gives them time to clear - I'd say 10 minutes!!
  6. Sorry to hear this Tracey. :(
  7. Thanks Pete. :K)
  8. I tried the Harker's one drop a couple of weeks ago but they've still got lice......I just dripped it between the shoulders like it says on the bottle..should I have parted the feathers so the drop went on the skin? :-/
  9. Coconut oil?? :o I used to use it as a suntan lotion, no skin protection then...think I must have fried! ;D It used to be cheaply available at the local chemists.

You should get the second egg tomorrow then, count 18 days till they hatch!! Exciting huh? ;D ;D
  11. I've been told to never put a single youngster down onto the breeding loft floor or they get scalped - always put a few down at once! :-/
  12. She is in Norwich but, Fi Fi doesn't appear to have been on the site since posting! :-/
  13. I just read that the British racing pigeon enthusiast and author "Old Hand" passed away. He never used his real name, but had written many books and articles as Old Hand. His real name was Ken Rawson and he had a wealth of pigeon knowledge that will be missed by many. He was truly one the greats!
  14. Eight of my stock birds got out last Autumn , four returned the next day. Since then I've let them loft fly with no problems. (I won't risk basketing them to train though. :)
  15. Thanks Shadow, much appreciated. :)
  16. Please can anyone tell me where to buy basic pigeon mix from, at a reasonable price, near Cleethorpes. Thanks
  17. There is a lady who rehabs woodpigeons on this site: http://www.pigeon-life.net/ She is in South England and is called Cyro 51. It would be worth asking her advice.
  18. You were lucky you could reach it - my chimney bird cost me £100! £50 for the sweep to sweep it down and then another £50 for him to fit a wire cowl on to prevent it happening again. Blow me if the bloomin' bird didn't get lost a week later!! : ;D
  19. Congratulations.
  20. You just wait till Charlie takes off and flies!! I remember my panic when my first bird flew round to the other side of the house - I was convinced it was lost and would never find it's way home!!! : ;D ;D
  21. Knitting for charity. :)
  22. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mum Jimmy. :K) :K)
  23. Lovely Martin. Are these Dennis Sanders' Logans?
  24. I was told he has white Busschaerts but, looking at his websssite he has mainly grizzles. I want to keep my birds pure white so probably wont buy from him.
  25. Congrats Coxy. :) Can we have a photo when he arrives please?
