The following 6 lots are Kenyon long distance racing pigeons, bought from Alan Astin earlier this year. Based largely around the Bill Ishmael / John Crowder lines I have decided to scale back my pigeons and will not be holding any stock birds and will be reducing my numbers of pigeons. Each lot has photo and pedigree accompanying. Start price for the stock birds is £25.00 per pigeon I will also be advertising later this evening some Kenyon young birds. I will run the stock birds as an auction, ending Friday 23rd July 9pm. No 5 minute rule will apply. The highest bidder at 9pm on Friday evening will be deemed the ‘winner’ I would prefer for any bids to be placed on this post and not by PM. Hi all Had my youngbirds out for a 12mile drop today, all back in reasonable time. Called them in and then got called into the house, gone back into the loft and half of them have raided the corn tin, my fault for not having the lid back on I now have 14 youngsters 7 of which have crops bulging as big as cricket balls, the other 7 didnt realise the lid was off and havent eaten any of the corn. I was wanting to get them back out at the 12mile drop tonight but will I be wasting my time now given how much half of them have eaten? Will they be ok long term? Cheers

Hi All, I have a cock already paired to a hen and she is down on second round fertile eggs. I noticed tonight that another hen in the loft has also laid. I only have the one cock in there the rest are all babies eldest born in March. I have seen the lone cock mating with the hen that laid this evening, so assuming the eggs are fertile will the hen sit them and will she sit when the cock should be sitting, as apart from the mating he is showing no interest in her at all and spends all his time with his first hen.

I have been giving mine 10ml per litre 3 or 4 days a week. They seem to be ok on it

Fishing again this morning. 19 lb Carp. This time I had my camera. Caught on free-lined luncheon meat. Put up a very tough fight much more so than Sundays one and had me 30ft along the bank before he came to the net 10 minutes later Click on picture for larger photo

Cheers lads. Yes, using the centrepin certainly livens things up when you get a nice fish on

Hi all, I was up and about early this morning and set up fishing by 5:30 at my local drainage ditch - it's nicer than it sounds. Only caught 1 fish but it was worth it, a 21 lb Common Carp. My first ever double figure Carp, previous biggest having been 9 lb which I caught there 2 days ago lol She was almost as wide as a Labrador and a very deep fish. I caught her on ledgered halibut pellet. Certainly a good catch for me, I am not one of these that can sit fishing from dawn to dusk, I prefer short 4 to 5 hour stints. Only downside is I did not have my camera with me and I do not have a camera mobile phone. A real shame as it is very rare for me not to have the camera with me when I go fishing as I like to photo any of my decent catches and I'll be very lucky to catch another like todays one at all this season. But none the less it was certainly a very good catch and a good jump into double figure Carp Below is a pic of the 9 lb carp I caught earlier in the week, he fell to float fished sweet corn.

Very interested in this myself. I have a team of 15young birds which will be old enough for racing in the first young bird race which is app 80miles to me. I am aiming to take part in some of the channel races next year and would like to be in a position to tackle the longer BICC races in a few years. I would like to know how much racing I should give them as young birds and if I should keep some back or send them all and hope the best return. I will also have a round of latebreds from my stock pairs, these will not get any racing this year

Hi all Trying to get hold of a copy of the 2010 stud book but the only ones I can find the supplier wants more for p&p than the price of the book. Where is the best place to buy the book, have I left it to late for this year? Cheers

Youngsters Wont Come In

Hi all Had them out on a 14mile drop today, they were all back before me and within 5minutes of my calling them they were all in. Getting quicker but still room for improvement. I gave them a very light feed of mainly depurative last night, as a precaution I added crushed charcoal tablets and acidophilus tablets moistened with lemon juice, the last time I had possible young bird sickness symptoms this seemed to get them on track. Hopefully they are beginning to learn -

Hi Don, Yes, have been shaking the corn tin every feed since they have become independant, they used to as you say rush to the feeder pushing eachother out of the way on the drop board on their way in. They just seem un interested now. Finally they are now in. I have given them 3oz of corn over 10 birds this evening and will get them out to a 10-15mile drop tomorrow. Hopefully they will be more inclined to come in quicker, they've got to be hungry on that surely. Hi Davy, I am in Kent -

Half of them are in now, still have the rest sitting on the roof and going off for short 5-10minute fly arounds. Theyve had a few drops at 8miles, will step them upto 15mile tomorrow and cut back on their corn again this evening, got to have the desired effect after a while surely. Blueron, how much are you feeding your youngsters now? -

Hi Spike, They get a couple of teaspoons of bamfords tk condition (aniseed smelling) and a couple of teaspoons of canary mixture which has a little hemp in. This is in the feeder and first birds in are the ones that get the seeds. Started this with them as squeakers and they ere always straight in after a fly. Hi Delboy, I did wonder about young bird sickness, but droppings are all good, not retaining corn, no spewed up corn in the mornings at all and are flying for a good half hour or so round the house plus beating me back from training drops. Soon as they are in the loft they are round the feeder wanting grub. They are alert enough and not hunched up. -

Hi Kirky, Should I cut them back even further from this 1/2oz of corn. I have been considering this the last couple of days but I dont want to underfeed them. They are all on natural and moulting at the moment so I am a little fearful of cutting food back whilst their moulting but I guess this is all I can do -

Hi John, I get what your saying and I have tried keeping them off the roof but they are still not interested in either landing on the loft or coming in. My loft is in a very compact garden within a row of terraced houses so lots of available roof locations for them to shift onto. They wasnt like this for the first couple of months of me letting them out. I thought cutting their corn back would force them to come down as they've got to be hungry surely? -
Hi all, For the last week or so I have been having problems with my youngsters not coming in. I only let them out once of a day usually around 5pm after work, they fly for half hour and then spend best part of an hour picking at the house roof. I've scalled their feed back and for the last 3 nights they have only had 1/2oz per bird and I have cut out their small morning feed, they are clearly hungry when I let them out Last couple of days I have also had them out training during the day and they are all coming ok but still they sit on the roof, beat me back from 8mile drop today but are still sitting on the house roof 45min later. They get minerals, grit, pick blocks and not over crowded or have problems with cats that I am aware of. Our Jack Russel is out the back all day so certainly no cat problems during the daylight hours. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong would be much appreciated.... I dont think my wife can put up with me moaning on about it much longer lol
