Stephen Not used it, but its the same kinda thing as "Brux" - although Brux had a better reputation to be honest. Just smear a little Brux at the end of the nostyrils & they breathe it in. Supposed to sort out "head colds" etc.... Whether or not that is believable is a matter of personal opinion :X :
  2. Agree - its about pigeons & generally races are'nt won and lost by tiny margins but i'm looking at the bigger picture. Certainly from our lofts perspective bring it in - it'll suit us, but whatabout the rest of the members ??
  3. Absolutely Tony! Top man - Oh and Rose, you're absolutely right too! Let us hope that the RPRA continue with their current attitude towards ETS being allowed into mainstream RPRA racing. Mike
  4. Precisely! There are a few arguments with ETS. Firstly what many seem the expensive costs. I know from our conversations before that you were always dead against it. Secondly there is the problem of converting the racing lofts over which of course is expensive & time consuming. Thirdly there's then the emotional problem (believing in timing in as opposed to ETS).. Personally, I have no problem with the finance, I can afford it. I don't want to convert the loft & I DO believe in manual clocking. It was said that ETS would encourage fanciers into the sport. HASN'T HAPPENED IN EUROPE HAS IT!! To promote the sport we need to raise the profile. The Dutch get their liberations & results on Teletext. Why don't we?? I've lost count of the amount of schools that I've been to giving talks on racing pigeons and the kids are in awe of the birds capabilities. Its got bugger all to do with ETS.
  5. Colin JUst remind me how much money each of ther fanciers in your club paid for the system?
  6. Carol.. Aplogies to you... I have no problem with you at all... I wasn't referring to you & I apologise if you thought I was referring to you. Regards Mike
  7. Don't see why you think that should result in your being banned. You've said worse before. Funny though how no-one has managed to put forward a fruitful argument in favour of ETS without having to resort to launching personal attacks ;D
  8. OI... T-T... We need all the help we can get mate!! Boing Boing!!!
  9. What was it someone said Whatever turns you on?? Chutes are for parachutes - pigeons are for racing BANG BANG BANG as they hurtle themselves into their beloved home - not some bladdy sort o' trap ! Little words of wisdom once again Jock spark 8) ;D ;D :K) :K)
  10. Hallelujah!! Now we're getting somewhere!! Fairness my ar$e ;D ;D
  11. We fly mainly the M & D Evans Vandenabeeles with the odd other thing thrown in every now & again - like the G & S Verkerks.
  12. Forthview / Hyacinth For you it may well be - but I do'nt think it would be for me. And for the record, all of our birds bang through the door every single time. No "shyness" here ;)
  13. It is the most unfair sport on earth Rose In horse races the better horses carry bigger weights.
  14. Is that not part of the attraction of this wonderful sport of ours though? The nerves.. the anticipation... getiing the pigeon in through the doors & the thimble into the clock?? I've "seen" ETS in operation loads of times & I didn't get excited once - & I've seen the same guys use conventional and ETS.
  15. Agree with you - that's why the RPRA choose to leave it as it is. Aint broke don't fix it !
  16. Our average send with OB was NINE - I wish everyone would send 150 against us cos they'd do themselves no good at all. It aint about numbers - its about quality. We sent 7 to one race last year, six for the race & one for the workout - all 6 in top 14 of the FEd - 2000+ birds. It aint about the numbers - or being abledbodied either. Conventional is 100% FAIR
  17. Speckled - agree entirely. Same happened here
  18. I'd like someone to tell me exactly what is so WRONG with our current way of clocking. EVERYONE is perfectly treated the same - not that's my idea of fairness. Bird, catch, rubber, thimble, strike. Can't beat it for fairness surely?
  19. T-T they have a god sprinting reputation. If you want to gwet 250 miles or more, then I'd look elsewhere to be honest - but certainly a good sprinter
  20. Hyacinth.. I just don't like it personally, but if it works for you then fine. Lets keep the attitude out of it though eh? I wasn't being sh!tty towards you, it was just an observation where I said no offence was intended
  21. To me To you ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Jock Spark strikes again!
  22. Tell you what "K-G".... People who know me well would categorise me as being a wind up merchant & a p*** taker. That's why they don't let me on quiz Panels any more !! ;D ;D The thing is though, I know when I'm doing it & I can honestly say I haven't tried to wind anybody up on this forum - or the UNC one for that matter.
  23. DD - I see where you're coming from - i really do... I just don't really agree that's all.... Still, i'm sure we'll both sleep soundly tonight.

    tips

Sounds like good advice to me!
  25. Dunno..... Probably would be quicker - at a guess... Still, we're talking about fundamental changes to loft design & expense & i know plenty that just won;t wanna tolerate it. Instead of saying "well let them choose" then whty not just keep everybody on an eqyual footing like we are at present. Surely that HAS to be fairest.. Mike
