Agree entirely with Jimmy

So why do none of the organisations consider it then Tony? Have we ALL got it so very very wrong It's a financial disaster waiting to happen. The MNFC will stipulate something like "if we don;t get 5,000 birds for the1st race then we'll cancel the programme"... That's the responsble thing to do. At the MCC we cannot afford any loss. No Feds I know are going North. Our Worcester Fed and all theo ther West Midalnds Feds are all going south.

"Tony" Would you be happy to be levied to x amount of £ to satisfy your desire for distance racing? Every Club needs to balance the books. We all WANT to fly the channel - but we CAN'T. We'd like Guernsey - but we CAN'T. North road would not be supported "as a club" by "the membership in general". It is the RESPONSIBILITY of guys like me - associated with the Clubs to act responsibly. The MNFC have called it correctly - there's no real alternative. I've nowt against going North - but lets doit as babies as a long term committment
-
Hey Pigeon Man - whatever your real name is. I send sprint because I enjoy sprint. Our birds can fly the distance too though & our record supports the fact too. We've never failed to time in with the MNFC from Beregerac 557 miles every time we've entered. I'll race from anywhere, but I have RESPECT for my birds. I like to sprint so I prepare em to sprint. This isn't about me, our birds or anything. You HAVE to look at the Club Classic example. LSECC went North in 2001 & it was a disaster. Very irresponsible in my opinion

Each organisation has to do what is best for the membership & its Club. Turning North is indeed utter luinacy & I can guarantee 100% that the MCC won't even consider it
-
MNFC made the right choice staying short & central. North is OUTRAGEOUS . Utter LUNACY
-
If your dates are accurate I've never seen a pair of our eggs that have'nt hatched by the 19th day. Mike

Do you dispose of your birds if they are no good?
Mike Lycett replied to westy's topic in Notice Board
Unfortunately totally agree -
Ray Our Vandenabeeles wouldn't win in a Show pen but they have some real fire in their bellies ;D

Sounds good enough to me. Nominate pigeons in advance, or yearlings I don't mind either way. UP THE BAGGIES Mike

John If Dave allen was answering this question then he'd say it was a sign of canker. Me, I think its just the style of fededing each pigeon performs. If they're clear a week after the YBs have gone - that's the main thing UP THE BAGGIES Mike

Agree with Shadow. It can bwe done - but 100 mls x 600 mls dont' work. In horse racing when do you see a 6 furlong horse x 4 mile horse? It don't happen. People have different perspectives about what is "sprint" and what is "distance". Basically speaking, they don't mix & I think if you build your loft on that theory then you'll be kn&ckered pretty soon Mike
-
Deano - Perfectly true - especially efficient when used in rotation though
-
Funny that - Gord & I exchange mails on a daily basis and have done over the last few years. We have a clear understanding of each other. The words of advice from great winning fanciers are always most keenly digested in my opinion. I'd agree with Shadow - I wouldn't have treated it in our loft. But I wasn't asked if I'd keep it - I was asked how to treat the problem. I'll not advise anybody to cull their own birds. If someone asked me what would I do - then that's a different thing altogether
-
Basically I thinki you'd get a pigeon that was no good at both. Sprinter that had his speed tamed a little, and endurance that had been hampered too. Personally, I'd stay well clear- although I know of exceptions. There are always exceptions to every rule if you look enough Mike
-
Agree re: Flagyl.. The only thing I'd say is that its best to rotate the treatments. i.e. carnidazole based, metronidazole etc... Mike

F*cking GARLIC ?? ;D ;D You're trying to get me into trouble Ribble!!! Still Boinging Mike
-
Rose Agree - our best Stock hen has laid 3 this time in her 2nd round. Got me fingers & thumbs crossed ................... ;D Mike

Marvin I get our stuff from www.vetproductsonline.co.za Click on Birds/Poultry then click on Antibiotics. There's all sorts of stuff there & bottle of canker (tablets & liquid) costs about £3.00 Don't get using the Baytril for canker - you'll cause more issues than you solve ! Mike
-
Told ya it was COCCI didn't I !!! Get the Gamba_Tab down her neck & do it NOW By far the fastest & most effective way to attack it - Trust me...... I fly pigeons, not just read books on health. Mike ps - VILLA ??? UP THE BAGGIES !!! Mike

Hi Hyacinth Have you heard of Manchester United? Juventus? Barcelona? Real Madrid? Inter Milan? Chelsea, Liverpool? Arsenal? We're BIGGER than all them (West Bromwich albion has loads more letters in their name than them lot !!!) ;D ;D ;D Boing Boing Mike

Ribble - apologies. I did say "going off memory" - which is precisely why I write everything down! Now there's the best bit of advice I could give anyone!!! W*LVES !!!!! Dad used to take me down the Molineux as a nipper. I was originally brought up as a Wolves fan. Not many know that !!! Changed when I was about 9. Influenced by Regis, Cunningham etc.... I hope they go up to be honest. I'd like to see all the Midlands teams in the Promised Land. Unfortunately, I think either us or Blues will go down this year. UP THE BAGGIES ! Mike

Bruno Have to say that I agree with silverdale to a degree (my opinion). Garlic has its benefits. A bloke would be stupid NOT to acknowledge it. We use it at our lofts - in the right place at the right time. However, you couldn't pay me to use it for more than 6 weeks a year. To me, anything else is simply begging for trouble (in terms of racing performances). Our birds get well over 300 days a year of clear water, and that is absolurely CRITICAL. Mike
