Sorry mate woods and trees spring to mind .ive never stated anything about fair races I've only stated about better races return wise on the whole not one or two , doesn't matter how bad a race is there's always someone with great returns ,and the same when most get great racing one or two bet it bad , alencon was a disaster this year as was the western races last year including the short inland races and the year before , I'm not looking for any advantage I just would like better racing and I'm 100% sure Maidstone /ypres/ Reims / clermont. Would be my choice for race points.the long distance race well we know we can't do it on our own so have to go piggy back with others.so anywhere the members pick is fine by me .
  2. Hope to come along , but been under the weather since Tuesday , bad as it is but I was in Majorca till Friday 10th , murder being away on hols and getting flu. . Will see how I am by Tuesday night and then decide if I will come with my good friends from Glasgow fed.

Here's the stats 2014. Season . Buckingham (Central). Fast race. Winner doing 1800 ypm. Was a great race but it should be at this speed. Maidstone (east). Sw wind turn to n west, winner doing 1225 ypm , 449 birds timed down to 1052 ypm Alencon (Central ) s w turn to north. Winner doing 1106. Only 100 birds and it's down at 645 ypm Ancenis. Central/west winner doing 1274. Only 16 doing over 996 , and only 47 galant bird home in race time Clermont .central/east. E n e wind turn to s east , winner doing 1449.ypm. Only 86 by 1005 ypm prob because of thunder on way home It's not hard to see the facts.

Yes agree pal but it's the national races that we are talking about , a few years back the snfc went to Reims for the gold cup turned out a good race ,why did they want to move .??? Overfly simples. it's been a struggle since they moved it back to Central/west France . With very poor returns most races I would just like to try it out to see if my theory works.

We never took it because Glasgow and South Lanark went east and the rest went west ,this was AGM decisions , so couldn't be changed , if all were say going east next year then yes of course it makes sense to go together prob from about 200 on .

Yes they did geo but other Feds were going down a different route voted for by their members at their AGM,s , so it couldn't happen . Maybe if we all were going the same route it could happen .

That's prob because we were all going on different. Routes , plus it would help it work if there was no inland national races .or maybe just the one .

Ricky that's when joint convoying comes into play , 240 from Ayrshire the same from Glasgow same from south Lanark , 500 from big Lanark , there's 1200 pigeons all coming into the same area. Oh and when was the last time they tumbled into anywhere from the I lands unless it's a blow home , more so the west .fk me youse where struggling to get them at half distance this year ,def not tumbling in .

Just about to point that out Vincent , these inland races are hurting the main events IMHO. Years ago if you wanted a go at THE national it was a Chanel race you sent to , now most are happy to have a go at the Inland s and stop .

That's fair enough andy . Aye and leave out the in lands , let the Feds rake care of them .

That's why it's a great sport davie we all have different ways to success , but real men don't fall out over a difference of opinions ,hope to see you and John at clarkston soon pal.

No need to say any more on this subject ,it's just all about best chance of winning , no matter the cost .

In a perfect world davie yes I agree 100% , but the way the racings been these last couple of years I'm of the opinion is easterly race points is the way to go , I'm not in it just for me !it's for everyone , look at Maidstone a steady race with great returns , Ypres the same , but the others not much short of disasters !apart from the blow home inland race .

Who gets the advantage davie ????? Well everybody east of me end of , but that's not why I would prefer eastern race points ,it's all about good races and good returns , if it's a bad race the only happy guys are the ones that's well in ,if it's a good race everybody is happy but the happiest of all are still the guys that are well in . Surely u must agree with that ?

Just as I thought no answers , facts are facts , if only folk would open theirs eyes instead of looking for there own advantage ,it's just the same at fed level .

And Alec Ypres was also a west wind ,so would be against west birds
  19. hotrod

    Snfc

Just checked the results there Alec Maidstone and I must say ,although the first west bird was only 219th open , in a west ,north west wind might I add ,but this race seemed to be a cracking race returns wise with multiple timings very close together . The races you spoke about , well the returns tell the true story .
  20. hotrod

    Snfc

It's not just about who won what Alec it's all about returns because if it keeps going the ways it's been these last few years then it will be finished as a sport sooner that you think .
  21. hotrod

    Snfc

I think it's ALL about returns and races , Ypres has been the most successful / best race on the Callander since it's inception , why do think this is , ok it's a short channel race , I'm more in the belief that it's more to do with bops along the south coast of England picking them off turning them back u name it , but further round the corner so to speak they are maybe getting a wee break and getting accross into mainland Britain . It's just a theory of mine .so would like to see more races from that route on that basis only .

I would second that del .
  23. Maybe just too close for comfort del , must be some heat comes off them jets though.but if it was a football pitch width then wullie gass,s birds would get it every day ,they fly very near the jets yards from the runway.
  24. I've witnessed a few near misses going by Glasgow airport del and it certainly doesn't do that I've seen them tossing and all over the place swirling around in the jet wash as if they were in a tumble drier, but they eventually get clear air again and keep going .
  25. Went to flamingo land near Scarborough a few weeks back , I was passing catterick maybe a wee bit further an RAF base next to A1. 3fighter jets came out of nowhere about 100 or so feet off the ground and going very fast ,I thought to myself what if a big batch of pigeons where passing at that time what would happen ????m it was the Friday of the snrpc y,b national .
