Right away mate, get them used to it,leave it later and it tends to upset them for a while and they try to get through the top dowels.Put a drinker on with a little seed on the water and they'll try to eat the seed and hey-presto they've found the water. I leave an old basket in the loft,put a bit of black rape in and they go in and out.
