the only thing i see by having all the birds from one place i would not pay for entry to an unknown bird if i was to enter i would want to send a home bred bird that you know has a chance rather than a bird you know nothing about .

thanks kirky yes i like my loft front open 24/7 thats why i use the lights instead of darkness.

if you can get electric in your loft fit a light on a timer so they get 16hrs a day of light i do it every year and the birds hold out to the last race .

mine is open with overhang stays dry better for the birds in my view . if you do have open front with dowels put some small wire over them keeps stoats weasels and rats out .

ive got an eagle owl and move it every couple of days to 3 differant posts i had trouble with sparrow hawk last year but since i got the eagle owl ive never had another visit .
