Ihave triple glazed polycarbon sheeting covered by profile sheeting on my loft and not a drop of condensation. On the roof of my aviaries I only have single small profile PVC and it drips with condensation when frosty. I think the secret is the air space between sheeting, IMO
ALL THE BEST TO ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THE XMUS RACE, not sure if your brave or daft. I hope the birds are up to the job and have had adequate preparation, once again AW THE BEST
Doesn't sound good, unless you can have the "slime" tested ASAP it's a bin job. Be vigilant with rest off birds, I WOULD SAY IT'S VIRAL BUT WITHOUT TESTING CAN'T BE 100%. How long has it been off food?
Pigeons power of recovery is quite remarkable, having stitched a few up over the years. Depending how injuries are sustained a complete recovery (physically) is quick. How the pigeon copesmentally is a different kettle of fish. Your hen lookin' good.
As usual the pigeon fraternity will rally round and put these guys back on the pigeon map. Our real energies need to be centred on finding and dealing with these headcases that carried out this horrendous act. I can only imagine how they feel and hope that they take up some of the offers on the site. SO SAD
My widow-hood ends are 75% perspex roofing, so light from first light to sunset. Having had my best season with 6 X 1st Feds I think that it is heat you need to provide rather than light or dark. My cocks get layed out on the front of the box and are obviously getting plenty rest. When Ifirst built the lofts I thought I would need shutters but don't want to change after a great season. In my book if the system is working then stick to it. I would probably put shutters up if I was concentrating on sprint races but thats only my opinion.
Be very interesting to hear how the training, motivation, exercise regime works out. I admire the organisers and participants of the race and hope for a break in the weather nearer race time. AW THE BEST
