I had 5 pairs from 12 lay before I went into hospital . its still the same now I am home . 2 pairs don't seem to have bonded at all . 1 crushed egg in 1 box .currently 3 " of snow . hoping more eggs will come in a few weeks when the cold weather improves . majority of my stock are old too 16 yrs the eldest with a few 11 , 9 years .

  6. hello Addi , welcome to Pigeonbasics . you may get many different answers to your questions . however . 1 = it could be suitable , depending on size and wether theres any ventilation ? 2 = in the main , recommends 1 square foot of air space per bird . to maintain good health , don't overcrowd ! 3 = all the basics , drinkers feeders , basket etc etc . where are you based ? do you know of any pigeon fanciers in your area ?

  11. oh dear , have lost a few over the years , especially in the stock loft with deep easy-bed covering .

  13. a different "kettle of fish" . I had a spare yearling cock 1 season . too good for the dustbin . I kept him in a basket in another hut . exercised twice a day with the other cocks , trapped in to feed with them , placed back in the basket afterwards . didn't send him to first race , went to the 2nd , just homed ok . at 3rd race I had 1 cock not return , so placed him in that box . took him a few weeks to get used to the system , hen etc. took a 1st , 4th and 5th club that season . was a few years back .

  15. ive often kept a few hens in with the youngsters , like Dougie says , helps them along as regards learning them to feed , find water etc .

  22. I used them year on year , especially for youngsters . no longer available to me .also use chicken rearing pellets , more readily available , and a good bit cheaper . and before somebody "pipes up" theres no anti biotic content in them .
