that note about the first 2 eggs is so very true .its a shame that so many eggs layed by youngsters are not left to hatch ,maybe because the fancier thinks the pairing may not be good.

i have a friend who has had the same family of birds he inherited in the 60,s from his late Father. all dark chequers , blues (no - pieds) . however every 7 years he has pieds appear , even had an almost white thrown too .??

very nice , we had and bred blue roan cocker spaniels when i was a teenager ,had them for many years . full of character.

ive not placed polythene beneath the roofing felt . i wouldnt choose to either to be honest . if i couldnt do a competent job of felting , i would get somebody else to do it .
