  1. I'd go with that as the paternation can be carried recessive just like spread can be carried but not seen , so although the patern / colour breeding chart accounts for full colours theres always exception to the rules as throw backs can occur such as two blues breeding a ash pigeon
  2. you'l get either cheq pied or dark grizzles as the colour is dark on the grizzle , with most ybs from grizzles you'l get one light other darker other pair could breed a variety of colours Blues , blue pieds dark grizzles , blue grizzle
  3. as for the can question asked I've had light chequers from 2 blue bars before it all depends on what they've been bred from , if was from a pure blue barred family i'd say not possible, although two blue bars one carrying spread can breed blacks
  4. the thing with grizzles if you pair them together you get dilute whites ( grizzles with very little colour ) and if you continue down this path you'l end up with whites , so its better to pair lighter grizzles back to full colours , if you want two grizzles together there better from darker coloured grizzles so as not to end up with too much white
  5. Grizzles to gay pied breed nice grizzles however i'm with archie on this blue to grizzle although there be more blues than grizzles but they do look nicer Pied variations are just feathers lacking pigment
  6. I have one red Thelan
  7. Just my preference of where I'd like to be in unc by the results of the fanciers names I've given , OK unc may have been topped more in Skinningrove or Loftus ,as said a batch could go over then up to 15 minutes later Marsey and Taylor would clock and top the UNC , last bird I can remember was there Bourge winner Wildermesch hen topped the UNC , Great flyers but also great positions , most unc guys say birds come up A19 unlike the one eyed birds on the coast to me Seaham Harbour or Great Ayton would be my preference To the first drops of Skinningrove and Lofus , during racing most of the nehu strays i get in are lost on the coast;)They may be the first drops but they certainly don't have the drag imo , Better to be sitting near A19 jmo
  8. Chapman of seaham harbour few seasons ago and if you go back a bit further look at Mark Hartley of Great Ayton , then further back look at Marsay and Taylors results great positions Also friend of M and T used to watch there birds first batch would fly over few minutes later clock in topped UNC unbelievable but true
  9. I have the use of a good vet , done me no wrong for years , tests keep coming back clear , only ailment I've had is canker in young birds but have drawn my own conclusion to that and have changed my practises to see if that helps failing that treating for canker at the time of year I've been getting it will be done , as for preventing any ailment you wouldn't take medication for a headache just in case you may get one , and no point in treating healthy birds for ailments they don't have , birds must have a strong constitution , they already have natural immunity built up within the flock over the years , most birds that need medications to survive have had there immunity compromised and no doubt about it the day will come when there drugged life comes to an end and no drug will help because misused over a long period , go back to 60's if it ailed it went no vets but the birds were more robust, drugs only disguise the weak birds in the loft that need removing imo
  10. hunger will bring it in
  11. Rather be Seaham harbour or Great Ayton , than first drops into Lofus and Skiningrove
  12. I wouldn't treat healthy birds for something they haven't been diagnosed with , there Natural immunity suffers every time you need to prop up with a medicine bottle unnecessarily , if one bird is weak I remove , as the saying goes one bad apple spoils the cart Keep buying medicines your birds don't need ruin them and after a few seasons you'l be clearing whole loft out as any medication needed won't have any effect due to them been abused and over used
  13. take some photos on yer way be nice to see you progress
  14. don't be silly they'll use it for there pay rises and second homes and feathering there own nests and say we've never had it as good
  15. theres a few ways round this, one is remove parent for 24 hours and treat then swap if using one tablet option , i have in past treated whilst on nest with ronizole no bother even with day old chicks , however i feel treating this late is bad practise , but smelly young birds caked in there watery faeces would be far worse as the strain will be the start of more problems , re stress and canker
  16. It's very unusual to visibly see worms unless infested , and most treatments need repeating after 10 days then testing to see if there clear
  17. I don't like football nor support any teams
  18. Happy Birthday Day David , have a great day
  19. Nationals are different from club racing , I think what your members are saying is that they don't want the competition in there club , as the new member would have greater advantage been at the back , especial on fly overs he'd be first drop at back then they'd have to give him overfly as well I can't think why clubs turn members down , they'll only join another club and help there coffers , are they frightened of the competition ?
  20. yup i was on the boglin marsh porthole before they removed it then the site died
  21. Can't you ask your club sec to ask round on your behalf , I'm sure your member must know someone that could help
  22. if under counter should be full strength , if doesn't tighten droppings up whilst treating them I think you can safely say it's not working and probably out of date
  23. Saw your status cry for help tried to sort it last night , but couldn't activate your account so I apologise for the error and a warm welcome To Pigeon Basics we hope you enjoy the site
  24. should say on your product , also will depend on the batch number , so could be short or long dated , if off the shelf there usualy half strength of over the counter products issued by a vet
  25. if really dark green more likely to be Canker have the birds been paired recently ???? as the stress of pairing can cause canker to rear it's head especially in yearlings
