To give you a idea back in July 2008 crude hit a high of $148 todays price is $80.00 and has been as low as $70.00 in last few weeks. so around half price to July 2008. But the real issue is the Tax man who makes a lot more then the oil companies. John

My mate y/b's just started to kit up yesterday and hawk went straight into them and they flew everyway into trees houses etc at nightfall 10 down from 38 and no more by 8 o'clock this morning. and 28 very scared babies in the loft which will take weeks to get their confidence back.

Hi David, he is our old Jannsen lines which done us very proud on the north rd but did not really perform for us accross the water when we turned south so we gave the best ones away to Mac1. Glad to see him looking so well mate. John

Hi Mate Were do you live as i am sure there will be someone close by who you will be able to visit etc and get some advice from. cheers John -
We invested last year in a remote alarm which goes off in the house if anyone goes in the lofts or is over a certain height and are around the lofts. also have CCTV with night vision and a dog which hears anything that moves. And best of the lot is a ping wires which if trigged leaves no doubt about who it was LOL John

One of if not the gretest flyers in essex has to call it a day Brian Baxter. I have flown against Brain my whole life and he as always been the one to beat he had aalways flown north being one of the best flyers i don not think many if any body won in the Essex combine more then Brain in it hay day. in approx 2004 he turned south and has been the one to beat again in the channel races one top pigeon has had 2x2nd nationalhe has also won 2nd classic 1st sec 5th open NFC. 3x1st in the NFC gold (A ring) race + many many more top positions the advert only covers the highlights but trust me there are many more top results and all this since his triple heart bypass and with bad pigeon lung. He has also bred many winners for others including 1st open BICC, 1st open L&SECC and 1st open LNRCC in recent years. See page 109 in BHW for further info. Anyone looking for class middle distance birds these will be the birds for you. By the way i have nothing to gain from this financialy Brain is just a fellow club member and life long familly friend. and he truly will be a great loss to the sport. John

It depends on the level of managment. if birds are fit and healthy fed and watered and exercised well. then i think A is more important then the little tricks/motivation etc. if health or fitness is missing then have to say B because the very best birds if not fit and health still want win.
-
I totaly agree there is winners and there is winners and often the best bird is not the winner. But the question is what would you describe as a winner so it has to be the bird which won the race. But as they say always do you home work beacuse 10x1sts in a 3 member club that sends 30 birds a week is not worth a lot compared to a bird which has 10 positions against 100's or 1000's of birds IMO John
-
I think you need to ket people have there own birds in the race as that is the fun other wise it is just like betting on horses etc. But always a good idea to have a syndicate or spares for sale for anyone with out birds to enter etc. I would have 3 weekends when birds could sent to the loft and keep the 3 lots separate until all kitted up. the biggest cause of illness is adding younger ones to the team IMO. Once you have the weekend and all birds are in that section treat them up for everything to make sure all are clean before they are let out etc. Hope this helps a little John

i flew against budgie for years a top guy and top birds
-
I think the one John Howman run this year was a perfect model to follow plenty of info and most important to me was the birds always come first. there was issues with health but if you can learn from that you are half way there IMO. We would be up for it

Thanks all for the kind words. It means a lot. John

Hi Mate, Was not aware they had sold all there Van Loons in fact the web site says they are taking orders for 2010 y/b's from them. but you may well be right . I was not saying all RJ's are no good and i am sure plenty will win as there seems 1000's about at the moment some will win and win well. My observation was in there advert there did not appear to be many good winners other then from the 1 pair. i would have thought a top sprint family that they had sold plenty of y/b's from would have produced lots of winners and maybe they had and they did not put them in the advert or maybe they had not received the feedback from there customers. The fact Gangster rates them and many others i am sure means they are better then the advert would suggest. By the way i was not having a pop to promote my own birds. I was just stating what i could see from the advert. Thanks John
