  1. a pic of some of my birds pictures taken a month a go
  2. i agree you can not see inside but if you are a experienced fancier you no if your birds are right or not just as parents no if there children are unwell and dog/cat owners no if there pets are not 100% and beleive me my birds have to be 100% at all times as well.
  3. Yes mate using parastop powder as a disinfection, i no he does not believe in injection but many others do. on a personal note i am not sure but if there is a chance it may keep them clear it is a chance i am willing to take. cheers John
  4. yes i routinely treat with Parastop also Canker twice a year other then that no i would always consult a vet if any other issues and i have them tested twice a year before pairing and before racing as well. After speaking to Derweert and a pigeon vet in America they both thought it is worth treating with parastop at the times stated. hope this helps John
  5. I had this in 2002 after buying a pair of birds in from a very well known breeding loft at the time (has sold up since so i will not name them) Back then i did not no anything about this illness and i lost a lot of birds. and after battling with if for 18 months a battle i was losing i decided to eliminate all my remaining stock birds and kept the few races i had in 1 section totally burnt out the lofts then bleached them before putting in a new floor throughout. i then brought new stock birds which was the start of Formula 1 lofts. since then i have read a lot on this subject and have spoken to various vets around the world on this. the main time this flares up is when the birds are under stress pairing and molting for stock and also racing training for race birds and some times when the y/b's are out for the first time and they night out and this stress them out and it can flare up. i think a lot of people confuse a mild dose as y/b sickness these days. to try to stop it ever coming back i treat with derweert parastop twice a year end of sept and end of march for the race birds just the once for the stock in sept. i also inject after the moult late nov early dec but what i do is just inject no baytril treatment beforehand as i have been told and from my previous experience in 2002 if they are carriers when jabbed without a pre treatment it will knock them side ways so if anything was to show ill effect after the jab it is gone in a flash thankfully i have not had any issues since doing this routine. hope this may help a bit by the way i was told by one of the best pigeon vets in the world in my opinion that 1 in 3 lofts has this in there flock. John
  6. there was us all thinking how cleaver you are Albear LOL
  7. Have to agree Strapper through i have been a member for a while i have only just started to come on the site in recent weeks i have always looked in from time to time but to be truthfull always thought it was a bit clicky, but having spent some time on and posted a few times i think it is a very good site. Just needs to stop the bickering between 1 or 2 for the sake of all. JMO John
  8. Dazza i was not saying you were taking the pi*s far from it i was saying it was a good idea. I was just agreing with Frank that some people do. in no way was i suggesting you was one of them all the best John PS i still think it is a good idea
  9. Totaly agree frank it is all about helping each other i do not know Dazza but sounded to me as if he was trying to help the sport. have to agree some will always take the pi*s given a chance
  10. Dazza- for what it is worth i think this is a good idea not sure why everyone seems to think it is so bad to make money at the moment, we all have to eat and pay our bills. I do plenty within the club that i race in for free as that is my hobby but i do not go to work for free and do a days work and say keep the money to my boss, i guess some people must by some of the reacations people get, i think the fact you are willing to set all this up so people can change supplyers and save money themselfs and then you are willing to give 66% of what you earn back to the pigeon sport deserves a pat on the back not abuse. JMO John
  11. yes to cleaver for me LOL
  12. from pairing to laying the only treatment i would give is a canker one once the eggs are layed but before they hatch. other then that plenty of fresh grit each day and a couple days with a calcium treatment each week from paring to weaning helps also Gemthepak or the like on the food 4 or 5 days a week once young hatch or a cheapear way is SMA gold (Baby milk) mixed on the food with a little oil Plume oil from MEDIPET or some other sort of pigeon oil is good. plenty of high protein food ( as a novice buy a breeding mix and if you can afford it buy some G10 pellets) feed as often as poss 3 or 4 times a day once babies hatch. if not hopper feed and put in a couple of handfull's of seed when you can (not to much small seed) hope this helps a little John
  13. Was they showing any sign of Coxi if so defo separate and treat them before repairing if not and it was a routine treatment not ideal but not sure if it will do much harm does it say anything on the bottle. if not call harkers and ask there advice Maybe take saftey first and chuck eggs and let them lay again as still plenty early enough.
  14. Sorry Albear mate it was my stupidty showing please accept my appoligies John
  15. Albear not sure who you are having a pop at mate me Stuart or Lennaut tar but i always find it is best just to come out and say what is on your mind, can not speak for anyone else but i have always done my hardest to help anyone out i can and since i set up Formula 1 i have given loads of birds away to good causes and new starters or people who have had miss fortune in fact as i am sure Okitsme will confirm (i think i have the correct person) i gave him 2 unrung cocks that were bred in my stock loft which did not have rings on at the show. regards John

  20. HI me and my partner in formula 1 lofts have brought a load of these in the last couple of years from all Marks best birds and they are proving thereselfs as very good sprint birds. one hen was also 13th open nfc young bird race for my partner this year Mark is a very nice and genuine fancier Also a bird bred by Mark won the BICC a couple of seasons ago Hope this helps John
  21. HI all i have a stand at the show so please come and say hello. cheers John
  22. I do agree mate there has been hell of a lot sold and not massive amounts of winners but they do seem to have produced some very big winners, I have looked into buying these birds for a couple of years doing a lot of homework on them and came to the above conculsion. jury still out for me
  23. I think there have been some very good results in national racing with the Jos Thone birds. Brain Sheppard 1st and 2nd International. J&J Brady 1st,2nd,10th 12th,19th & 22nd open nfc also 2x2nd open BICC in 2008 to name two top flyers with these birds. John
  24. There was a very good distance flyer many years ago that used to fly in my area (Essex) and he had a true Silver cock bird which was a bit of a legend in these parts winning many top pos from Thurso in fact the last year he raced this cock he had been in the stock loft all year and on marking for thurso he decided to send it winning a lot of pool money in the combine on its first race of the season 512 mile. But i can not recall if he bred any good birds or not.
  25. I have to agree with Budgie in a lot of ways to many people buy a team of birds in bred out of them for 2 or 3 seasons find the best ones then sell the bads ones off to re coup there money. i think this wrong and you are only conning the buyers and giving the origianl breeder a bad name. which is why we do not sell birds that have been bred from as if they are any good i want to keep them and if they are not good enough for me they are not good enough for anyone else either. Having said that i am going to sell one 05 bred race cock at doncaster in a couple of weeks that i have bred 3 y/b's from this year. i do not normaly bred from race birds but he paired with a very good race hen that i wanted to bred from. so i raced 2 from this pair one of which won my section for me. the other one was lost. and the 3rd one was a latebred after racing had finished which i gifted to a very good friend of mine. the reason i am selling him was i moved in april this year and through the birds did well inland the extra night in the basket and the longer distances this cock was going back to the old house first. i did think of putting him to stock but i already have more cocks then hens so have decided to let him go. but just like i have here i will make it plain why he is being sold and this is the only bird we are selling we have bred from. John
