  1. the main colours are blue bar, blue cheq, red cheq and mealy. Blue bar is the same colour as your cheq but wont have the chequering on the wings, it will be plain and have 2 black bars accross the wing, Red cheques are a brown red colour and mealys are a pinky colour with red/brown bars. Sorry a very basic description!
  2. the ultra sonics don't work on all cats! My ex had 2 cats when i met her and i tried the ultra sonic on them, 1 cat wouldn't come in the house if it was on and the other would curl up and sleep by it!
  3. they love a swim
  4. can you secure your garden to keep them out?
  5. whose cats are they? If they belong to neighbours and you get on with your neighbours then explain you are letting the birds out for the first time and would they mind keeping the cats in for a couple of hours, if not shoot the flea ridden things!

    AGE TO RING

show racer rings as with NPA rings are not recognised for racing
  7. they can already produce combined rings with number and chip. Hopefully before long they will be approved and replace the current rings, this would reduce the costs.
  8. A few years ago I had a pair that would only ever rear one youngster, they would hatch 2 but only 1 would survive! If I split the eggs up under different pairs both would survive. When I checked through the records of both birds they had both been single reared so had the 2 generations above them. They seem to have begun to beleive it was only natural to rear 1 each round.

    VELOCITY

if you look at any horse races, motor races, athletics etc the results will show equal 1st then the next position is third! Phil
  10. Make sure it is an avian vet or a vet that is experienced with pigeons. Most vets havn't got a clue and just prescribe baytril as a "cure it all" because they don't know what the peoblem is! One thing they never prescribe is aftercare!

  14. baytril won't cure a deficiency if thats what it is but will strip the bird of all natural imunity and make it more likely to pick up other ailments!

  20. nobody knew me, but fortunatly a lot of my friends from my home area were only to pleased to breed me birds to get me started again and show the new club how to fly!
  21. oh yes! I had always been given birds, many better than you could ever buy! When I moved to Outskirts of London I hadn't any racers but wanted to get started again. I had already been in touch with somebody from what was to be my local club. He took me to a club meeting and at the end of the meeting stood up and introduced me and asked if anybody would breed me any young birds. From a little gang of members in the corner came "theres plenty in the papers"! A great reintroduction to racing! Phil
  22. as soon as its called a club then competition starts and nobody wants to help fellow members incase they get beaten!
  23. somebody sugested setting up a register of people willing to help newcomers in local areas. It would be a good thing for the forum to do but bet you won't get any big studs involved!
