  1. just think its down to the climate. We fly into Wales, birds that fly into the flat lands of England etc will not fly here, we need birds that will cope with the mountains and valleys! All about horses for courses!

    too young?

I am sure he will be a great fancier in the makeing! When I started racing on my own it was to my parents loft and an old dog shed, they wouldn't let me race on my own though until I could train my own and take them to the club etc as I didn't want to race in the same club as them. Weekends, evenings and school hols were spent training on my push bike, boy was I fit! It did make sure though I was prepared to take responsibility for them and be commited. Good luck to him!

What do you do on release day? Do you just attend and release the birds, do you leave the birds with the wedding party etc/ Would be interested to know what you do
  9. keep the trap set, if they have had a good feed they may not return for a few days! Do you live near water, i.e river, large stream etc?
  10. How many Delbars have you got Tony?
  11. nice Frillback Valliant, how about these?
  12. If you are looking to cut out the pigeon and place on a different background you can use a photo editing suite like photo shop that has an edge finder option in its cut out programme and then paste onto whatever background you wish.
  13. I had a pm to say £250 inc carriage
  14. if its the first round then lock them in, once she has laid her 1st egg the hen will return to the box and the cock will follow. If they are yearlings and you are using widowhood boxes then cover 1/2 of the box so the bowl is hidden and they will settle better, they like quiet and privacy.

  20. i sent a pm asking the same question but no reply!
  21. it sounds like you may have just upset and disturbed the old birds! Have the baby's been killed or just left to get cold? Have the eggs actualy dissapeared or have the old birds just broken them?

    Sprint hen required

Hepste, i wouldn't try to add a pair to your breeding section if they are all settled and sitting. What is likely to happen is the new cock bird will disrupt the others and either go in wrong boxes and break eggs or cause disruption and the others may leave there eggs. If you are intent on getting him a hen and breeding from him this year I would put him in a different section, on his own or seperate loft. Speaking from experience! Phil
  23. soft shell eggs are a calcium deficiency, most grits don't have a huge ammount of calcium in it, if you can get it use limestone grit. Appart from giving calcium tabs you can put milk in the drinker and maybe even dampen the birds corn with oil and coat the grain with baby milk powder. A sof shell egg won't hatch, it will get squashed long before it ever gets chance to even if it is fertile!
  24. Roland, they also have a few RPRA awards under there belt as well and he can win with them at any distance!

    question

we have members in our fed that race in 2 clubs and duplicate birds. If they get a duplicated bird in the result it gets 2 positions and are, and can only be equal velocity's. Draw isn't a recognised term in pigeon racing where as equal is!
