i'm only going on experience with the Show racers. Not sure if Beutyhomer is refering to 1 in 4 of the 50% of the dilute youngbirds which would make it 1 in 8. There would be a much easier way to breed dilutes if that was MBpigeonguys plan and that would be to get a dilute cock bird, either silver, cream or yellow.

    what will you do

I can't understand why a fed would just set an inland programme when there is no restriction in place. But the members must have voted for it! There are many classic and national races available so use the inland races as trainers and fly the nationals if you want more distance racing. At this time of year the hysterior is starting already, what if this and what if that happens, if it does it does, just enjoy what ever racing we are fortunate to get because there is nothing we can do about it!
  7. if you don't like it don't have it! Its also the members that don't want it that have given themselves another time penilty! More than one rubber can be placed in a thimble again, so how many will wast seconds trying to catch a 2nd and 3rd bird to get the rubbers into the 1st thimble? This is the 21st century, isn't it?
  8. Chrissy, you don't have to be a member of a club to show unless the show is members only! If you wish you can be a member directly with the RPRA, SHU, WHU, NPA etc to obtain rings and then show at open shows where you don't need to be a member. All the major shows are open to anybody registered to a union, some society's like the Midlands hold all there club shows as open shows so you only become a member if you wish to or want to compete for the trophy's. My point was £10 to join a governing body is not a lot, compare it to joining other sports or Hobby's.
  9. chubs, have a good look through the health section on this forum and you will find natural wormers. I would not use the combined jab and it is not licenced for use inthe UK. Paramixo is the only jab required for racing so I would recomend you get droppings tested and swobs checked before treating for anything. Phil

ok, you'll breed, blues, prob very pied and maybe even white! You will not breed any dilutes. If you keep a cock bird from the pair that will carry the dilute/cream gene, if you pair that back to the cream hen they will breed the odd cream/dilute of which 1 in 10 may be a dilute cock bird. Once you have bred a dilute cockbird then you will be able to breed dilutes from that paired to any coloured hen.

  12. I am not suprised membership has gone up, it is still cheap compared to many sports and hasn't increased for many years. Don't forget they've got flood damaged material to pay for, whoops, being cynical again! Phil
  13. have a look at this one! http://www.kintraks.com
  14. Glabal girl, sound like you are doing a great job. Be careful with changeing food as has been said, how often are they being fed? Where in the country are you? Is there another fancier localy, maybe one of your grandads fellow members that can pop around and give you any advice? Are the birds in the loft your grandad had or have you got the somewhere else now? Phil

is the cock all white or is that a blue patch on his back? Also what colour is the cock bred from, does it carry any recesive genes?
  16. I agree with Lennut, don't waste your money! Have the youngbirds got a problem? Have you had droppings tested etc?

    Its made it worse.

any updates from he vet Vic?
  18. Not going but as normal, anything that suits the RPRA will be passed and anything that doesn't will be ruled out of order!

the birds in quarantine, were they vacinated before import? If so they may have been injected with live vacine so would test positive!
  20. how old is it?
  21. I feel it is always nice to see the birds tame. If they are always on edge what are they going to do on race day when they come home and there is somebody in a neighbours garden etc? They will just fly arround or sit on the roof. If you keep your birds tame and calm they will not get upset by any strange noises etc. I visited a very good fancier once, we went into his widowhood loft and he said watch this, he dropped his food tray on the floor with a bang and not one single bird flinched, they just didn't care they just sat in there boxes. He never had a bad trap or birds sat on the roof!
  22. Strangly enough Dave the Family we are working with are Direct Kevin Roosen pigeons, closely related to the South Africa winner, we had them before he won the race!
  23. Where are you Geraint?
  24. Dave, the stock i brought with me when I moved to Wales have proved useless here. I send young birds back to friends in England and they win! Have been working with a family of birds now for the last couple of years that are starting to win here, but wouldn't buy anything that doesn't fly into a hard area.
