They are not a million miles away and the club they have applied to is in the same fed. I don't beleive any member should be refused membership unless there is good reason, not because they may win but because they have defaulted etc in the club previously! This is one of the reasons members pack up because they can't get in a club to fly, we should not be allowed to refuse members! Sorry, i'll get of my soap box! Phil

You will need to be a member of a club to compete so you may as well pay your WHU fees through the club. Some clubs don't charge for junior members or if they do it should be a reduced subscription. Best to contact your local clubs and ask the question. Where in Wales are you?

Getting there chubs! You need some ventilation at ground level and I would sugest you cover the dowls with wire. I have seen birds grabbed through dowling like that by cats! You wouldn't want to lose those crackers to something thats easily prevented. Phil

it depends on what you get. If you get a rabbit hutch the you will prob only have enough height to give him a block to sit on. I would keep him in for a couple of days and feed him and water him in there, once he knows where the food is he will soon return to it. You may want to consider the following:- Don't leave him with food 24/7, get him a routine that you feed him at a certain time of day, prob evening so that when you call him he will return to his home for food and at that point you can also shut him in at night for safety. You can start this routine when you are settleing him to his new home, some fanciers call there birds in, some whistle, etc. What ever you do, it may only be rattle some food in a tin always do the same and he will know what the call means and come rushing in!

glad he's ok this morning! A large rabbit hutch would be suitable where you can feed and water him in and leave open during the day so he can go for a fly. Put the hutch well off the ground to keep out of cats reach and somewhere sheltered. sounds like a very lucky bird! Phil

I supose its just another thing us secs have to put up with for the benefit of unapreciative members! I asume Mick you are using Unicon as I believe thats the only one that works with FSS! Hopefully soon they will get FSS to work with others. Phil

If that is glass in the windows get rid of it! The birds are likely to fly at it when its clear, better putting twin wall in the front or better still put a small flight on the front for the birds to come up into and have a look out. You also need to get some ventilation in there, louvers at the bottom from and an air gap top rear to allow the air to flow freely. Phil

I agree with Wiley, i've only seen the feathers curl when intop condition or when a bird is weathered as this one is bound to be if its living out. Phil

keep us updated with the outcome and we'll find him some company, at this time of year we have got young birds in the nest which would setttle to a new home rather than having another adult bird that you would have to keep shut in.

I would be nice to get some fresh blood, I have cut her pairs down to 6 this time and don't plan to breed to many youngsters. What I do breed this year will have to be spot on breed standard or the rings will be recycled. It is very easy to get over run with them as they breed so well. I sent most of the spares to a friend in Falmouth last year but for a couple of years before that a lad in Port Talbot has had them.
