  1. hope he posts his ring numbers on here so we can all not bother reporting them!
  2. have you sold all 2nd round?
  3. clearly nothing sensible to contribute as normal vic!
  4. Spin cycle, as far as i'm concerned young bird racing is education, young birds is only one season and the birds have another few seasons to compete. If they are burnt out as young birds then they will be finished. personally have very little interest in yb racing and call it the silly season although I do feel all youngbirds do need at least one race. Phil
  5. hopefully he is just down then and now eating will soon be back on track!
  6. Sounds like he has his appertite back, and look forward to hearing Stuarts opinion when you get back. Phil
  7. How is he today?
  8. some good points Paulo! We have never advertised, maybe I should for a scrapper operative for our lofts? Phil
  9. All looking good!
  10. maybe, but there is a time and place, and comments like that when a non fancier is involved are not helpful! Phil
  11. sat alone on the side of a river is the best place for some people! Phil

    yellow youngsters

If anybody will have any yellow sqeakers available latter could you please let me know. I am looking for a pair for a good friend of mine, he had to get rid of his birds in 2000 due to health but last year decided to get a few birds again. I gave him some and leant him some stock to get him started but due to now being almost wheelchair bound it is unlikely he will get to race what he has got and his wife is doing most of the work. In fact if it wasn't for his family he wouldn't be able to do anything. He has been a good friend to me over the years and I would love to be able to get him a pair of yellows as a present because he just loves his coloured pigeons. Thanks Phil
  17. this has been an interestig thread that many people have become involved with and wish more non fanciers took as much interest as this one has! There is no need Vic to start knocking peoples actions, you may not care what happens to your strays or give a damn about getting them back but some people do!
  18. If the birds got carried away by others then its not down to the age at which you let them out. There are old fanciers who don't let the youngbirds out until the eyes have changed colour, but they do need to be able to look around to become familiar with the surroundings.
  19. Can they see arround the area from the loft, i.e have they got a flight? If they have they should be fine, just open the loft and allow them to come out in there own time, don't be tempted to make them come out and fly etc. If they are hungry the first time even think about sitting in front of the loft and let the birds come out to you, throw the odd grain or 2 down for them and they will come for the food and have a good look, the when you want them back in call them in with the food. This way you will be there to prevent the birds being startled by anything like cats etc and you can keep the birds quiet and under control. Phil
  20. Do you have a ring list that may have the secs phone number and get his number through them?
  21. is it a fancier or non fancier that have reported it?
  22. well done everybody involved!
  23. peckedhen, this is one of the biggest problems with the sport and what gives it a bad name! A non fancier should be contacted within 24hrs, the owner has no way of knowing if the finder has food for the bird or even what the bird may need, i.e water! Fortunatly this bird has found a good home. I hear to often from bird sanctury's that they get over run with racing pigeons because the owners don't want them or can't be bothered to claim them! Phil
  24. Well done for contacting him Merlin, but I wish owners would contact people imediatly especialy when non fanciers are involved!
  25. How is he eating today?
