  1. I thought the norm was to open the clock on the day of clocking and if the members wanted to clcok on day 2 or 3 then the clock could be reset!
  2. look like a lovely set up. Are you planning to fly them out or are they just to keep in the aviary? Phil
  3. Most feds only print a result with the 1st 30 birds, we get a result with top 30 in each section and then an overall top 30! Who wants to know if they are 991st anyway? Phil
  4. I don't think any poultry pellets contain antibiotics any more! They used to but I think you will find that putting antibiotics in them was outlawed, check the ingredients on the bag and that will tell you. I tried G10 last year but wouldn't bother again. Phil
  5. David, can i be 1st to make a sugestion, build pillars of concrete blocks, put timbers accross and put the shed on top. This means you've got a good air flow underneath but more importantly the loft will be high enough to prevent mice and rats being able to live under the shed! Lenut, if Joe or anybody else is able to do it then great! Maybe David would like to write his own story and findings as it may have a better perspective coming from a total non fancier? Phil
  6. fantastic picture! I take it there rapido's? Phil
  7. somebody's brought a cracking pair
  8. I see mac has not replied to the comments on this thread! There is no mention of how many club positions he took, it maybe the club has a 3 bird rule etc! When using a conventional clock you can stop clocking after 3 birds etc but ETS will just keep clocking! Phil ps congrats to the winner!

    amtrak

they leave you ok, but no guatantee where there going to end up is there!
  10. If I was one of the tri members I would send my birds with a club that uses ETS and duplicate them into the anti club! Sure then other members will start and do the same, non of the members would bother going to the anti club then! Sure the sec would soon change his mind! Phil

    burgher delbars

I have been looking for Berlangee Delbars for ages, I know John Robilliard has them in Bodmin but can't find any others. Let me know if you find any please. Phil
  12. if you've got room put hens into another section or loft then leave the cocks loose in there section to pick there nest boxes and they will then stick to there box. When you then put the hens back in let a pair out each day so that both cock and hen will stick to the chosen box. The birds will be happier free in the loft than being locked in. Phil
  13. if its been a few weeks then something is wrong! I would seperate them for a week and then let them back together, it maybe because they havn't settled to your loft but seperating them for a while will make the cocks keaner! When paired you should expect to see the 1st egg at around 10days. Phil
  14. have you seen the cocks driving the hens and how long have you had them paired? Phil
  15. you can feel her vent bones are opening and dependent on what stage gives you an indication when she'll lay. From you other post i think you said you have them shut in and they don't seem to be doing anything, I would let them loose in the loft and see what happens. Phil

    tools

you finished loft building with your tools ken? Phil
  17. I think the problem is goggs is the time of year. A lot of people don't like introducing new birds at this time of year unless they have somewhere seperate to put them. Most have stock sitting and a new introduction would cause chaos. Phil

Damian, i'll send you a pm with details to send some rings. As you have purchased rings on e-bay are they GB rings and do you have the transfers for them? If you don't have transfers for them they are as good as useless to you as you won't be able to register them in your name! Phil
  20. Lennut, I think I sugested a write up in an earlier thread but I think a story like this would make excellent good publicity if it went into local or even national newspapers for the general public to see. If its just in the pigeon papers its not read by non fanciers. David, if you get a garden shed there maybe somebody on here who has a spare sputnik to put inplace of a window to save building a flight. I have prob got some spare perches you can have and maybe even a couple of spare nest boxes. Phil
  21. Very good question! there are duffers in all family's, I had a pair of birds many years ago given to me, the cock bird was lost training as a youngbird and was reported by a non fancier when it landed on his car while he was washing it for a drink from the hose. He was collected and lost again as a yearling, this time being reported eating the workmans lunch in the gas works workshop. His nestmate had 7 1st's! Phil
  22. Looking much better David, you must be a natural fancier! ;D If you just look for a 6' x 4' garden shed with a window you could convert that or http://www.rvwoodcraft.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=38 would look smart in your garden. Phil

Damian, my stock are just going down again but would need some rings if you have any. Phil
  24. what will happen is they will sit until hatching time has passed and then leave the eggs thinking they were infertile or just didn't hatch. They will then go to nest again and she will lay another clutch and just keep doing the same. It won't stress them out as they will be going through the natural routine without the rearing stage.
