    new loft

well done racer, looks great! If that is clear glass or perspex in the doors then replace with frosted or twin wall incase birds fly at it thinking its an open window! Phil

  5. ok, understand that you want to keep your lines pure and the only 100% way is to keep pairs seperate. Do you let the birds all out together for a fly? Phil
  6. I would say yes Sue, You have acted like a preditor and stolen there eggs they will need to regain confidence in that you arn't going to attack there nests again! The 2 babes are doing well! Phil
  7. there is no need to stop handling your birds! You will often see pictures of top flyers with birds sat on there shoulders, hands etc because the birds have a bond with the owner as well as the loft etc. Quiet, calm birds are always happier. Handle the birds well as babys and continue to handle them to keep them calm and never afraid of you, don't take birds of eggs etc just to handle them but pick them of the floor, perches etc. When you catch them to basket them they will be much calmer. Another good tip is to basket train your young birds when they are baby's so that they are used to being in a basket otherwise when you do basket them they won't know whats going on and will be stressed! Phil
  8. what birds are they and why do you want to keep them locked in? Phil

    Do you remember

I'm not as old as you lot but still remember a few of them! "Good old days" is the right phrase but if the world stood still we'd fall off! Phil
  14. have you got anywhere you can feed it into? if you have a garage or shed you can feed it into and catch it then you can get the details which would enable it to be returned to its owner. If you do manage to catch it in somewhere and report it please be sure to keep it in until you have made arrangements with the owner. Phil

  16. i did have 6' infront of the loft before they hit the fence and ran the gauntlet with my dog!
  17. when I lived in East London my loft was 4' from the back of the terrace house with trees touching the back of the loft garden 25'long! The birds had to drop like stones to hit the loft! When the youngsters first took to the sky they would land on the roof but as soon as they did I would shake the tin and they'd come down, after a while and when they learned how to get straight down on the loft they very rarely touched the houses! Its all about controlling the food and training, not starving them! Phil
  18. Hi Damian, The only way is through food! Keep em hungry so when you let them out they get up and fly. When they land on the roof call them straight down with food, after a while they won't go on the roof and drop straight back to the loft after a fly. If you don't break them now you never will! Phil
  19. I take it this pair have been kept together, have they produced winners? Phil
