how many can afford to keep birds waiting for a win in an unlucky race? Are you breeding in preperation for another smash in 3/4 yrs? Phil

    strays

There are a lot of bird sales around the coutry which often have pens of pigeons for sale. I have seen many that look to good to be tipplers or crosses etc and even birds in the pens with rings on. They in the main have been caught by stray catchers who deal with them in 2 ways, they either cull and sell for meat or sell on anything they can make a few quid out of. Phil
  5. Back Garden Fancier, be careful with reading to much into your test results! A friend of mine was using a test facility and his results were coming back showing a high yeast level, he doesn't use brewers yeast or any products containing yeast. When talking to other fanciers in his area who used the same facility all there results were comeing back with high yeast. He then sent some droppings of a bird out of interest and the result was again very high yeast, when the lab was asked if he should race the bird, they said no, you will never see it again in that condition! The owner then told the lab what he thought of there results as the bird topped the fed 2 days before the test and was sent the following week and topped the fed again! Phil
  6. I can confirm to anybody that these are genuine fanciers, flying genuine pigeons into a poor location with fantastic results! Phil
  7. but if Ozbit has only been given the pads he'll need some kind of system surely? Phil
  8. my grandfather used to wash all his beans during the summer on warm dry days where he could dry them quickly keeping them turned. When they were dry he would just buff them up in a sack and store them in the spare bedroom for 2 years before they were used. They were then nearly black and shon like glass. Beans having a hard shell didn't absorb any moisture by having a quick wash but he never washed soft shelled grains. Phil
  9. Other infections will become apparent with a bird that has Adenovirus and circovirus, The virus doesn't show itself but lowers the birds imune system allowing any other problems present to take over and the birds go down hill and die within hours. Phil p.s get them tested!
  10. best way is to wash corn on a warm day then dry in sun and polish in a hession sack!
  11. no problem Valteng, you just need to do your homework first. I was involved with exporting a puppy to USA last year and didn't realise all the red tape involved but got it sorted in the end. Good luck with your venture Phil
  12. I can't understand why they are having problems and have been using it on the continent for years. Is it that they have been having problems there as well but we havn't been told about them or is it that in the uk they need to meet with the compatible software to be approved? Is it that they are struggleing to be compatible, if they are then they are not meeting with RPRA approval rules and should become unapproved until it is proved they are 100% compatible and acurate. Phil
  13. maybe another Dublin member may like to pop in to see how hes doing?
  14. As I said Ted, he realy needs to check out any import regulations his end and if the airport will handle them before he gets carried away buying or aquiring birds from over here. Phil
  15. I think he's in the Phillipines.
  16. Oh, what a suprise, he was so quick to shout and complain when he didn't get his free birds as soon as he wanted, sold his dog etc etc! I didn't offer birds as I wasn't a member of this site at that point but probably would have as I am always happy to help new starters, unfortunatly some are just ignorent. I wonder how his club mates will get on with his attitude? It might be worth sending a note to IHU ref transfer explaining the situation and they may assist. Phil
  17. They would have to be sent as air frieght so I would sugest you make enquirys with your nearest airport who would be able to provide costs and also you need to find out if they require quaranteen etc. Phil
  18. And yet more work for us poor old secs!

    pigeon lofts

Don't always look for cheapest, look for a quality loft that will last or if you want to keep the cost down you can just buy a garden shed and convert it as many members on here have done if you take a look at members photo's. Phil
  21. A member in the club had youngbirds going down and dieing very quickly, no green but very watery droppings! He was picking birds up off the floor daily but failed to get advice until it was to late, he had 22 of his 38 yb's die, then his oldbirds started going down so he killed every bird in the loft! He should have had tests carried out earlier and would have had a chance to at least save the oldbirds! Phil
  22. The birds do like some sun on the loft and if it's secure the cats will get fed up and leave them alone but a cat deterent will work for some cats but not all! Phil
