  2. we're in the Amman Valley, South Wales
  3. Bigda said it could be a form of para! I think he's refering to paratyphoid and not paramyxo which you link is to vaccine for! Phil
  4. I think he means paratyphoid and paramyxo
  5. As IB says its down to honesty, verification is checking ring number, wing mark etc and liberating the bird at its home loft and watching it re-enter the loft. But there is nothing to say the bird hasn't been collected from another location 100miles away over night etc. How many birds have 2 homes? I have heard of many birds stopping of at regular lofts enroute for a rest and then heading for home. If a bird was doing this regularly the owner could actualy wait at the stop off point for the bird, clock it and drive home with the bird which could then be verified at the home end! Makes you think! Phil
  6. nice pics Jimmy!
  7. the owner could have driven 1/2 way, met you and clocked the bird in there and then! If the bird had been verified the following morning it would have been back in its own loft so I don't see your point Vic! I have verified birds for the National and CSCFC but could only verify where the birds were at the time of my visits, who knows where they've been for the previous 24hrs or so. Phil

    aluminium basket

Peter, the aluminium show/widowhood boxes as pictured are ok for taking the birds to the club to keep widowhood cocks quiet but not a lot of use for anything else. Phil
  9. congratulations and best wishes to all the family, hope mum & babe are well! Phil
  10. that would be a normal treatment vic but will not help a bird regain sight and if you look in the picture the pupil has gone! Phil
  11. something in the depths of my mind tells me there is a possible cause but i'd only be guessing! Mind is very deep and full of rubbish! lol Phil
  12. good on him making the effort!
  13. i have seen this in old birds getting old but only ever in 1 eye. They hve been able to adapt and live a normal life but a totaly blind bird has no chance. It may be worth contacting an avian vet and asking if it could have been caused by an infection. Phil
  14. get some pot eggs and swop them with the real ones next round!
  15. I wouldn't worry to much about him coming out of the bowl. If there were other birds in your loft then they could attack it but you havn't got that problem. What you will prob find is that the hen will lay again in the bowl in a few days, ready for the next population explosion! Phil
  16. if there is no reaction in either eye and the pupils appear to have dispersed then he is blind and the kindest thing to do is despatch him as he won't be able to feed etc, let alone find his way around the loft. Phil
  17. in either eye?
  18. can you tell if he is blind?
  19. Rab, let them excercise before training then when they are taken in the basket they will just want to home for food. Once you have got them 20+ miles down the road you won't need to excercise them 1st. Phil
  20. hope she breeds you many more!
  21. deserves a try in the stock loft then! Well done! Phil
  22. how is the little fella doing?
  23. sounds like your in a good position, design and build your own loft and help from the family, thats as gooda start as your gonna get! Good luck with em! Phil
  24. best way to start is find a local fancier that will mentor you. What are your intentions and why have you decided to keep pigeons? Phil
  25. all together, they will stick together then
