  1. Why do you think I only deliver to Caldicot during the night!
  2. it often happens when somebody new moves in!
  3. Also make sure your birds are not left out to sit on roofs etc or they may take pics and use as evidence against you. Let the birds excercise and then get them back in the loft. Fanciers leaving birds out all day on open hole are asking for trouble!

    FOUND THIS

almost as bad as admitting your dolly experience!
  6. Its also worth asking neighbours before buying a house, i've never had anybody say no if your courteous enough to ask before buying the house. When you have moved its also difficult for them to object when you have already asked them! Phil
  7. weather permitting they'll go 7.30ish but i'll txt you as soon as i know. Phil
  8. South West Wales will be at Newbury tomorrow!
  9. to many will leave a squab in the nest that they know isn;t 100% in hope it will develop but they never will do any good.
  10. I can imagine. As an old friend of mine champions are produced in the nest not afterwards!
  11. They certainly look the part, if only! Phil
  12. if you can use a little corn or rice you maybe able to feed it into a shed or somewhere you ca shut it in and then pick it up from there.
  13. R Lindsay, prob best to start another thread so we can help the above non fancier and yourself. AdeKem, you need to catch the bird and keep it confined so that the owner can arange for return of the bird. When you catch it let us know the ring number and we can hopefully give you a contact but when you catch it if you open the wing you may find a telephone number of the owner for you to ring. When you have cought the bird please keep it somewhere safe with food and water away from cat, dogs etc. Phil
  14. Adding on from What Ted said, there is a section on this site for people to post any trips they may be taking where they can pick up drop birds off enroute, just see how many bothered to put there movements on there as well. With birds I have bred for people this year i have tried to time them to coincide with trips up and down the country so that I could either deliver or meet the people concerned. Something needs to be done but unless Amtrak threaten to stop delivering then the RPRA certainly won't step in!
  15. All regions should set up a number of stray lofts, any strays are taken to them and then they can work out a way of transporting birds between stray lofts where they could eventualy be picked up by the owner from the nearest point. This doesn't solve the sale and movement of youngsters etc. This year alone we sent 4 to Damian, box badly damaged on arrival, 1 dead, amtrak didn't want to know, we received 4 boxes of youngbirds after driver hit a tree, all in the end had to be destroyed due to stressand conditions brought about by stress, again amtrak didn't want to know!
  16. thats the problem Ted! So we have to put up with the sh*t service we've got.
  17. no individual would do it for £30 but no reason a network couldn't and it would then be cost efficient! If fanciers formed a network then at least we know the birds would be in good hands!

    Losses?

One thing i havn't seen pointed out and probably the reason for not many replies Vic is that there isn't a legal Vacine for Paratyphoid in this country is there? Anybody vaccinating is obtaining it illegaly and by putting on here that they are jabbing are telling the world they are breaking the law! Phil
  19. When things do go wrong which is frequently, they don't want to know about it! There customer service is worse then an I know. One of the biggest problems is the depots are franchised and not owned by Amtrak so they vary a lot with level of service!
  20. sounds par for the course with Amtrak!

paratyphoid can be vaccinated against. But when a bird is stressed it is prone to a lowered imune system! Phil
  25. it would depend on the size and construction. As long as it doesn't take up more than 30% of your garden and is of temp construction you shouldn't have a problem but worth checking with your local authority. The other thing you should check is that there are no restrictions on your deeds preventing you keeping pigeons there! Phil
