David would be ideal along with his story. phil
  4. Can I sugest another point of attack! Another problem is when young people buy there first house, many have covenents on them preventing people keeping pigeons etc, is it possible to find a way of preventing the covenents being placed on new builds? Phil
  5. umping back to the RPRA trailer, it, I believe is available for use by any of the membership. It is towed arround to many of the shows and gamefairs etc but as has been said probably needs better information to be presented to the public. My parents were manning it at this years Game fair at Blenheim Palace on the Sunday, but realy its just publicity, giving out balloons and telling public what to do with the pigeon in there garden! Sure if anybody want to use it they will be able to. Some regions also have portable lofts for display as well! Phil
  6. Well done, keep it up, just keep your eyes off Blackpool, thats ours! Phil
  7. I know exactly who you are refering to Chris, he has done this same thing on other sites and it has been pointed out to him! He askes for birds for daughter etc, then when offered birds doesn't want to even pay carriage etc! He also advertises enough stuff on e-bay as well and it doesn't wash with most people! I have been taken advantage of on many occasions, having lost count of the number of newcomers that i've given birds to and loaned birds to to get started. Many of the loan birds have never been returned and the people dissapear! I still do it but whenever loan anything its only now going to be something i an afford to lose. Phil

    RPRA new GM!

My mother was going to Region for years and sat on committees etc until her club folded and its the same few clubs that go each time. When she went to club meetings to give a region report they were not interested.

I reckon 75% of RPRA clubs never send a delegate!

    RPRA new GM!

I am totaly with you ch pied but clubs won't budge the dinosaurs and most members in clubs are just not interested and just like to moan about everything! How many clubs even send a delegate to region meetings? Phil

    RPRA new GM!

ch pied, when have you seen any "outsiders" ever get onto region, let alone council? Anybody being put forward at region will not get on the committee! Phil
  13. They may pick up every week, but as you said there is a festival on so the transporter may not be able to get access. Have you asked the other clubs what they are doing?
  14. Prob not saying you can't race but cannot get to your club to collect. You will probably need to arrange transport to get you birds to a location where the transporter can pick up from. You need to arrange with fed transport manager. Phil
  15. Chris the RPRA have a trailer taken to shows, gamefairs etc with birds but not enough emphasis on the damage we suffer!
  16. I only remember seeing 1 small advert in the BHW. This has only been up and running for a very short time. A lot more promotion needs to be done, inthe press, sponsorship etc etc to get the name out there. Peter Bryant / RPRA did promote Phantom Flyer when he was going nationwide but who knows what happened to that! It maybe worth contacting RPRA. Phil
  17. The birds can not be sent. I would ring the members concerned or the chairman if its his mate now and prevent any embaresment when they get to the club. The chairman should know better! Phil

    RPRA new GM!

How about compileing a list of say 10 questions about aspects of the sport that members would like to see either changed or implemented for the betterment? If the right questions were to be put together then maybe we could get the New GM to answer them and the q & a's could be published in the press etc. It would be like helping him to form an agenda with the genuine feelings of the membership and not just the garbage he'll be fed from council! He may even commit to helping make some changes or maybe i'll just keep dreaming? Phil

    RPRA new GM!

Yep, agree but they will then be replaced by the next band of dinosaurs waiting inthe wings sitting on the regions! Problem is the forward thinking people do not get voted on to region even if they do stand as the antichange brigade will have rallied around before the AGM to make sure they don't get voted in!
  20. The RSPB will only ever blame everything but birds for reduction in numbers of birds! They blame farming for reduction of song birds, not sparrow hawks and magpies etc etc They will never look on there doorstep!
  21. Hows the loft extension?

    pest control

They get at least £1 each to restaurants, a stray catcher I knew used to fill the freezer and then they would go of to france. Most were ferels but any unwanted rung birds also went in. We used to get £5 a bird from the University as they use the livers.
  23. cider vinigar and regular test show no other treatment required!

The guy in Birmingham gets most of his strays from local fanciers! They take them to him to save having to deal with them! I believe there is even a stray basket in the pet shop just for him! Why climb churches etc when you have a ready made income from the fancy? Phil

    pest control

this is a known problem! Every day you don't claim it or pay for disposal they will charge you to keep it! They will not report it direct to the owner as by reporting it through the RPRA you have a responsibility to claim it! Phil
