  2. they look like racers, but the biggest problem that prob caused the losses is that they appear to be quite strong and with no apparent windows or a flight they won't have been able to see there surroundings. Before you get any more you need to put more ventilation in the shed and some sort of flight etc on the outside of the shed to allow the birds to look around in. When you get some more try at get them when they are 21/24 days old as they will settle easier than older birds. Phil
  3. Bart, I asume being on Dark its and old flight as he won't have moulted that far yet. If the bent flight is still attached try steaming back straight or if it is broken off then try glueing it but as it hasn't moulted it it won't be sore and will be ok to keep going, train or race. Phil
  4. Julie (guyfinross) if you can catch the bird and put it in a box with some food and water away from the dogs etc it can have a rest. If it is on the ground either a cat or fox could get it.The most important thing is to give the bird some water and if you have any bird seed then a little will sufice, if not some rice would do. Phil
  5. Has the bird been claimed now Chris? I must admit your comment ref Gail at the WHU is certainly out of character, she has always been polite to me and beleive me, i've thrown her some curve balls at times. PHil
  6. juniors sure not camera shy!
  7. We are back to the same old problem, I am disgusted when people can't be bothered to claim there strays. They always have 100 excuses ready. There is another thread live from Julie, has reported a youngbird to club sec and has been trying to contact the owner. She shouldn't have to chase the owner, she is a non fancier and the owner should have made contact within hours of notification, no ifs or buts! Fanciers realy don't help themselves! Sorry rant over! Phil
  8. A young lad or not Julie, he should still do you the decency of making contact and as a non fancier he should have contacted you within 24hrs! Not everybody who finds a pigeon has anywhere to keep it as you have. Phil

  13. Parents of Bevan Boy were son and daughter of Derek Mitchems direct Hermans! 1st section, 1st Open Welsh South Road National Flying Club, Pau 1992, 584 miles. Raced by Mr & Mrs Ted Watson, Trethomas, Bred by Roy Cawfield, Upper Brynamman. He was donated to a youngbird sale.
  14. Its always nice for us fanciers to know where birds have been when they have gone AWOL. If you have read "Pigeon in my kitchen" i'm sure you would get help setting up your own little loft for you and your daughter to enjoy! Phil

I've got 1 coming well from Training Sue, time will tell if it'll make a race, but looks promising! Phil
  19. it is when you've got a good team around you which i have. The problem is your tied to it, I don't mind the job but I can't give 100% to it and can't be at the club every marking and checking night. This year 1 current and 1 ex members have caused problems which along with my kids now being at an age they want to do things at weekends has made my mind up to let somebody else have a turn. Phil
  20. i've been in the same club since moveing here and been sec for almost the same length of time, no other mug will do it!!!
  21. how many did you break?
  22. Do people realy expect to break Louella birds when they never seen the light of day and have been bred so far from the tree that most have lost the homing instinct!
  23. Sallyanne, still e-mail Gail at the WHPU and you maybe able to contact the owner to see if the bird has found his way home. I'm sure the owner would be pleased to know where he's been living it up! Phil
  24. All unions should have a foreign bird register.
  25. I have heard of this before, not any particular colour but birds being liberated, training or from the loft and just going up and up and up unitl out of site and never to be seen again! Anybody got any ideas why? PHil
