    lost ?

if i get a stray in I try and find out where its from, if i can will get it tossed in that area or on line of flight once fit. If not will ring the owner but do get fed up with all the sob stories. My neighbour mind you doesn't, he never even knows if he's got a stray in the loft until i go arround, see something in the perch and ask "whats that?", and normally get answer "I don't Know!". Takes all sorts but all birds make mistakes even the best birds and should be given a chance! Phil
  2. i asume they are fibreglass moulded around an alloy frame to slide the crates into and give it staility? Phil

prob is Lindsey they go off to quickley, when they dim slowley the birds know they have chance for a final drink etc or make there way to there perch before dark.

  13. this is like the good old days Chrisss!
  14. it wouldn't do any harm to pair them when you move them, keep them hungry and then they've got the added incentive of the hens. If you let the hens out with them they may well follow the hens back if they do go off.
  15. R V Woodcraft or any local timber merchant will have them
  16. You got a web site joe90? suprised you havn't been self promoting it as i'm sure it will be full of useful hints and tips for the members!
  17. Ok, personally then i would try a different way, if the loft is reasonably near you, go get the birds in a basket and liberate them at your loft a few times, when you get the birds let them settle in your loft for a few days, keep them hungry and then let them out. Before you let them out make sure the old loft is completely closed up and the birds can't get in. Once they return to there old loft and find nothing there they will follow there tracks back to you where they will find food and water etc. The birds will prob always take a trip back to there old ground but will return to you. In the early 90's i had to move in a hurry, moved the loft on Saturday, let the birds out on the monday and raced them taking a 3rd in the midweek on the wednesday. Phil
  18. how long have you had the birds and how many are you trying to break? Also is there old loft still there?

  22. another trick told me many years ago was put a pile of nest bowls in the middle of the floor in the widowhood cocks section, the bird that won the pile is your pooler!
