i wouldn't have added hot water, maybe just take the chill off, the birds know better than we do most of the time and if they don't think they can dry them selves off they won't bath. As has been said though we can mess this up by adding things to the water so just give them plain water so you don't strip the feathers of anything natural.

put a tray of slug pellets by your corn bins but make sure the birds can't get them

Buschaerts will do all distances if treated the right way and of the right breeding where as Van Reets tend to be more sprint/mid distance which could detract from the Buschaerts distance ability. It all depends on the type of racing you are aiming for.

when you look for a cross you need to know what you are crossing for! Are you crossing to gain more distance or just need a little more speed for sprinting etc, when you have decided then look for the birds that excell in that field and use them as a cross. Phil

3/4" ply would be your best for the floor and whatever you can get hold of for the front, it doesn't matter wether you use ply, feather board, tongue & groove etc, just give it a couple of coates of preservative and it'll be weather proof. I would also put some ventilation in the tin at the back and maybe top to allo for air flow. Phil
