All very good and very well that they (the scottish fanciers) have kept feeding the sparrow hawks for 13yrs but when will they wake up? The RSPB have agreed to this research because while it is being carried out nothing else will be done but at the end of the research what will they do with it? My guess is NOTHING and all the do gooders who have helped feed the hawks will just be left with egg on their faces! JMO

anybody tried the following? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FMT Allround Mix has a broad therapeutic action and is the remedy par excellence for the treatment of canker, bacterial (intestinal) infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (salmonella, E-Coli) and all disease agents which are sensible to the drugs. Bacterial infections are caused by the metabolic products (toxins) that they secrete. These toxins are responsible for the symptoms. It is frequently not immediately clear which bacteria is causing the symptoms. However, treatment is still required urgently. In these cases, FMT Allround Mix is a sensible choice. The three active components in this mix have a broad effect and are extremely active against the various causes of bacterial infection, such as salmonella and E-Coli and the associated protozoaire diseases such as trichomoniasis and hexamitiasis. Paratyphoid (salmonellosis) is an infection caused by salmonella organisms which affects a number of different sites in the body. The liver is one of the primary sites, becomes swollen and bronze in colour. The elbow and wrist joints of both wings may also be affected, demonstrating marked painful swellings. Symptoms of intestinal problems are loss of weight and appetite, watery and discoloured mutes. Canker (Trichomoniasis) is caused by a protozoan parasite in the mouth or intestinal tract (hexamitiasis), invariably caused by eating contaminated food. The bird usually reduces appetite and may flick food. Canker and intestinal infections will occur often together. Do not combine with broomhexine, zoalene or carbadox! FMT dissolves readily in water and is absorbed easily. Active ingredients: Furaltadone, Metronidazol, Tetracycline. Packaging: 100 gram sachet. Dose: 1 g for 4 kilo body-weight in drinking water or over food for 5-7 successive days or as vet. prescribes. Measuring spoon ± 1 and 5 g enclosed.

If you but secondhand, you will need to register it with your region/union and it is likely you would have to provide the club with the required equiptment to oporate it as well as being prepared to be the person in the club willing to set the system up etc. If nobody else in the club wants it and your not prepared to take it on then you'll be wasting your money and you can't force them to have it! Phil

Tenny, if nobody on here claims it try reporting it to the RPRA and the WHU as they do keep a foreign ring register for members who bother to register birds they buy. Worth a try! Phil

My neighbour and race partners got a litter of Whippet pups ready now, he messed the papers up so they will be sold unregistered but are all well bred.

are you sure they are a pen and not 2 cocks? You can move the eggs although you may want to put a pair of pot eggs in first to check they will sit them before putting the real eggs in. " cocks or 2 hens will rear as well if not better than a pair!

If i read this right Ryesway, you have changed you feed from hopper fed beans to a mixture of Homoform, G10's and a small seed mix? When did you change the feed? If you have just changed the feed once the eggs hatched then i'm not suprised the Oldbirds droppings have changed, if you were planning to change the feed you should have changed it gradualy before pairing. If i'm right i would put them back on there beans and feed the homoform and G10's as a supplement. Phil

Well said Lee, i'm sure there are many who feel the same way, also i suspect there are many new comers who are afraid to ask a question in fear they will be shot down and left looking stupid. If new people can't ask, what to them are sensible questions without fear then this would become a very sad forum indeed. In this sport we never stop learning, the day you think you know it all your name will be on the bottom of the result sheet! Phil

Massive outbreak of YB Sickness on the continent
pjc replied to PigeonDesigner's topic in Notice Board
Try not cleaning out, not spraying the loft out with an anti viral spray or bleaching drinkers, you are preventing your youngbirds from building natural immunity! When youngbirds are weaned is when they are most prone to infection, they will have limited imunity from there parents but by keeping them in a sterile environment won't help them, leave them to strengthen there own imunity and don't overcrowd them in the loft. -
they will tell you when they are ready, they will be flying well and rangeing around your area as has been said. You can't just go on age as some will be up and flying before others, just watch them and they will tell you when to start!
