leave the sputnik open only if there is no risk of anything getting into it other than the birds!
If there is a risk of anything else being able to get in then leave it closed until you are there to call the birds in.
if they are used to a morning feed, they will be waiting for there breakfast. When you go to the loft in the morning call them down and i'm sure they'll come dashing down off the roof.
At least being up on the roof they are safe from cats etc.
there are no rules regarding lice but if markers don't consider a bird to be healthy then they should reject it for the good of the other fanciers birds it will mix with in the crates.
I agree prob marrimans but would still ask why so cheap and how/where has it been stored. Last thing you want is contaminated food that may have become damp at some point or your cheap corn will turn into expensive vets bills!
correct but the 2 fanciers could be feeding differently, 1 including seeds/grains that will promote the moult but even different lofts put on the system at the same time may moult differently.
