  2. definately [ lucky theres some good fanciers still about]
  3. agree with you entirely slatey, we need more fanciers like that, and good luck to you boys that have offered, great stuff, great forum
  4. if you put the yb in a cardboard box about 4 inches broad with twigs in the bottom, it may recover,as its legs cant spread out that way and,see what its like in a week or two
  5. ifits a single yb and not much nesting material this can cause this but as hyacinth says it would be better if you had a picture of it, if you desperately need the bird there are some info on the health topic, if you dont despertely need it, it might be better put down, sorry to be so harsh, but sometimes this has to be the way.
  6. :) theres photos of beauty homers on fancy birds thread, must admit i was thinking about show racers, but theres a few experts on the fancy pigeon post, that might be able to help,,hope you have luck simone
  7. i remember years ago, looking at this" black stray"fighting in a nest box with another cock, went in and took hold of it and noticed it was my ring, checked my book and found out it was lost the second race as a youngster, after a week or so and a wash [turned out to have white flights],put it back in the loft, it tuffed the other cock out of the box [spare box]was told by a top fancier kill it itll be no good, but it took to that box with a vengance, never even had a mate as cocks were on widohood [this was 2 weeks b4 first race]the bird turned out one of the best cocks i had,on a friday i would put the cock that it hated along with its hen, in the closed side of the box, that pigeon won 6 races,,,and theres a forum member who could verify this ,,,as ive said b4, strange things pigeons.

  17. ;D ;D ;D just another part of instinct, is when the newborn are hatched, the adult pair allways take the shell in their beak, and get rid of it
  18. ;D ;D ;D i wouldnt dream of picking on clockie ;D ;D but ive just rung 6 ybs for him,,,,,,,from under the bridge ;D ;D ;D
  19. i wouldnt look for that much on basketing day, but would be eyeing them up all week, and would hope to have picked my poolers, by friday, simply by observing every pigeon, every day. [mind you i wasnt allways right ;D ;D ;D]
  20. after resting all day.i then turned the bowls over and put the hens in, i then basketed the cocks, let them settle with a dark curtain over the basket, then took them about 4 miles, singled them up, at first they flew round, but with a bit of practise, i could let one off, made a bee line home , as soon as i saw its tail ,i let another off, i could let 18 birds off in a matter of minutes, each one seeing the one in front, [im sure they were trying to catch up with one in front]after getting home, i let the cocks back in with hens for about 10 mins, till they were sitting on top of each other in he pans, i then basketed them ,put the dark cover on again till they settled, then up to the club, i only did this in the short races, i know a lot of fanciers will disagree on this, but it paid off for me
