  1. i really feel sorry for fanciers with pfl or asthmatic conditions, in over 50 odd years with pigeons, the dust or whatever has never effected me, yet my brother in law , gets severe asthma if he goes near the loft
  2. so sorry not to mention, as robert did , is to spare a thought for the fife lads
  3. i had a bird that had actually lost its eye, this bird had raced well, previous to this, but really he was at such a disadvantage, i stopped him for good, he used to fly opposite way of the batch if it was his bad eye side, but the good thing was he did breed winners. i know how you feel hyacinth, as i felt the same.
  4. ;D ;D ;D 60 ;D ;D ;D
  5. :) yes many happy returns :) have a good race all
  6. i raced widowhood cocks exclusively, but didnt start them till the 3d or 4th race for these firts 4 races i used spare hens, [a few that had been paired the previos year] these lesbian hens raced fantastic, topping the fed etc,,,,it as in my mind at the time to try this for a season, but then i thought about the work load, but im sure they would have raced great, really it was just because i put all my thought ,time , and attention, to the cocks, and decided to stick to my plan ,and keep it simple, but these hens could race...
  7. they got the type of bird wrong. they got the whereabouts wrong, they failed to pick the now whooper swan within 24 hours, and now theve got the tests wrong, yes i agree with you shadow,WHEN WILL THEY GET ANYTHING RIGHT, to me this sounded odd from the start, and now it seems odder
  8. so many differant stories about" this swan" i still think theres someting odd about the lot
  9. all credit to you bill ,everything looks great
  10. well done t t congrats, a great start
  11. as ive said before garlic is one of the greatest and cheapest things for any fancier, the uses and advantages are endless,,ive never had any broblem with invermectin, but they say its bad for the hawks???
  12. i agree with shadow, but as i say i give mine tea as they dont get out and get a pick of the natural herbs outside,,,when i raced them ,i gave them tea on a sunday with sugar in it, they seemed to like it better like that [true]but looking back, was there any need for it/ ? the sugar would have benefited them better after the race. ;D ;D tony,c was a brilliant post, but you could allways try whisky, it does make the water go further, try it ,ill bet your happy after trying that tip ;D ;D ;D hic ;D
  13. if its just started limping could be injurie, and as speck saysif its clean under the ring, usually if its really thick solid matter etc ,the leg would start to swell, but it does this gradually, if it doesnt clear up in the next day or two,and the ring is loose i would say its a bit arthritic due to age , but their usually a bit older than that for that condition
  14. 9.5 secs but thats only practising ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  15. still say something odd about it, the more i read about it the more i think that
  16. i couldnt possibly see a swan which died on the continent, and was washed up in fife , still being in one peice, im quite sure it would have been eaten by many ,preditors on the way, ie , fish , seals or hawks ,or anything for that matter , but i couldnt see it dritfting over the north sea, and arriving here in one peice,,no way there have been thousands of birds tested here ,,,for h5ni but up till now ,,,not one positive, apart from the,, mystery one.[ strange]
  17. ;D ;D walking by ,a bird sh,, on me. my mate handed me a tissue, i told him not to be so stupid,,,,,ittl be miles away by now ;D ;D ;D
  18. thanks fifer and clockie
  19. happy birthday fifeking ,have a great day
  20. fifer, would i be able to take one single pigeon in to inverkiething, from edin, ? dont think it could be termed s a gathering. but would like to make sure
  21. :) happy birthday ladybird have a lovely day :)
  22. the pigeons will allways come back according to the direction of the wind, but i beleive that lofts facing s,e come in to form quicker than facing n,w
  23. i dont like a youngster with a dropped tail flight, i beleive theres a weekness somewhere along the line, i daresay the yb will moult it out and race ok, but the weekness is still there in its breeding, i beleive a yb should be no less than perfect, from the start of its life
  24. your quite right speight, you can make it up yourself, but is it really worth it ,its up to the induvidual fancier,i give mine tea as they dont get out, and cant get a pick, on the ground outside
  25. you can use " columbine tea" which is made up of herbs, esspecialy for pigeons. but it all costs money westy, so weigh up the odds and ask yourself if its worth it
