agree with hyacinth about depluming mite, an old way of curing this was actually rubbing in and washing with the old fashioned carbolic soap

if its one of the first 3 flights , i wouldnt bother,,,if you pull a flight it usually grows in again slightly shorter, if its one of the outer flights you can "weld"a flight to it using a pin and super glue, but personally i would leave well alone
-
was told to try naseline on birds , tried it on myself first ,,eyes wattered and nose ran all day after, would not use it on pigeons, if your ventilation is right ,my thoughts are you shouldnt need anything like that, no nothing about brux, but i know fresh airs cheaper ;D

REALLY AFTER MORE THAN 50 YEARS RACING I HAVE NEVER WENT FOR EYE SIGN, REASON BEING, I AM HONEST, AND KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT IT,I BELEIVE WE HAVE A LOT OF SO CALLED IROLOGY EXPERTS, THAT ARE PLAYING AT IT ,AND PROFFESS TO BE EXPERTS.THE POSTS MADE BY JACK BARKEL ARE VERY GENTLEMANLY PUT, AND I HAVE TO SAY WORTH THINKING ABOUT , I ALLWAYS BELEIVE WITH PIGEONS YOU HAVE TO KEEP AN OPEN MIND ON MOST THINGS

with respect bruno, find it hard to understand your last paragraph, which looks a bit like a contradiction, [or more probable its me not understanding it]when dr miller says, "even if you take a pathogenic strain, such as the currant asian flu H5N1, they still CANNOT be efficiantly infected; only a FEW can be infected"maybe you can enlighten me more, meanwhile i thank you for your answer, and hope things are going well with you,,,,DOC :)

agree that 5 to 600 mile pigeons seem to have a very strong constitution, sir colin ,my 2 national 608 miles was of that sort, as i had mentioned in previous posts ,way back,. i would have absolutely clean loft and changed water as often as poss. yet colin would persist in drinking out the old sink in the yard where i kept them at the time [greyhound men washed their dogs dishes in it] i tried everything to stop him , in the end i gave up. as he allways looked well, all i could do was keep the tap running as long as poss, and add a drop of milton, but that bird had 4 top nat. positions [there was no drainage to the sink] p.s very interesting post by jack barkel, on the water intake of a racing pigeon,,plenty food for thought there
-
sorry ive missed your posts ,about baby powder,it definately helps rear healthy ybs, as i have used it it many years ago,and since, [im sure theres a post on the forum on baby milk] p,s i use about a tablespoon in a five pint drinker, ive used differant makes, but got cow and gate just now

im sorry westy i picked you up wrong and voted wrong, i thought you meant what weather you wouldnt let them out during a trainer, ;D ;D my fault, going a bit senile ;D ;D when i raced them i would let them out on most days , but would be carefull with ybs just learning to fly if the wind was too strong, same if it was foggy but when their strong on the wing , theve got to learn about differant weather conditions , providing its not exeptionally bad. :)

hi widowmaker, i was just wondering ,,do these 6 spare cocks have to be in that aviary, its a pity you couldnt re house these spare cocks , and give the hens the whole aviary, i take it your racing roundabout,,cocks and hens?,,,are you racing these 6 cocks?, just trying to get a fuller picture of your set up.,,meanwhile theres good enough posts above to help you, hope you get it sorted out best of luck to you, anyway

GIVEN BRUNOS LAST PARAGRAPH IN HIS LAST POST, KIND OF CONTRADICTS PETER BRYANTS LETTER CONCERNING PIGEONS BEING CARRIERS,I HAVE A POST ON AVIAN FLU WHICH ALSO CONTRADICTS THE SAME...IT LOOKS TO ME THAT THE RPRA DONT WANT TO SPEND MONEY,AT LEAST IT LOOKS LIKE THAT IN THE FIRST PART OF HIS LETTER, I DARESAY PETER BRIANT IS DOING HIS BEST, BUT,,,,,MONEY, FOR BIG TIME PR,IS THAT POSSIBLE,,,,MUST SAY BRUNOS DOING AN EXELLENT JOB.
