  1. good news fifer,,all good for the sport too,,,,well done
  2. ;D ;D ;D ;D the trophies dont pay the rent westy ;D ;D ;D ;D youll have the same one day, mark my words
  3. in my opinion westy ,i would use your stall traps, you can get the ring off the bird without frightening it,[i you frighten it, it wont come in the following week, they never forget] the open door is an exellent fast way of trapping, but for a beginner i would say the traps, as with the open door ,if its not done perfectly, and a bird flys back out, youll have trouble, you could allways practise both ways whilst training.
  4. yes pecked hen, let them fly in their own time,, but your spot on up to now,.. when their out flying, make sure their hungryish, and then rattle a tin of corn and throw a few handfulls in the inside, they wil soon cotton on, that when they here your voice and the tin rattle, they will know it means grub, and drop in, best of luck, you seem to be doing well :)
  5. i agree with bruno ,,,,its basicly a waiting game,,,,,but if theres no more reports of avian flu, in the near future,,,,i fear something very odd is going on. i hope im wrong
  6. yes it was a prisoner snowy, just needto hope someone finds it, hope youve had kuck with yours jw
  7. ive read and listened to all on his bird flu,,,,,but something, dont ask me what, doesnt seem to strike the right cord,,,theres seems to be one hell of a lot of coincidences,,the swan , the way it was found , the time defra took, the bird being torn apart by other birds, not one other bird infected [up to now anyway]it was 8 days before we found out , it had lay dead before that for24 hours before anyone came after being reported, it had been dead a while before that, i dont know ,maybe its just me, but something rings strange about it, i cant put my finger on it, but its been bugging me for a couple of days now, maybe i shouldnt have put this post on,, but i have a strange gut feeling about this, and i dont know what it is,,it was also found the day the government done the" trial run"theres a lot of this that sounds odd to me, but then again maybe thats just me.

    tips

a good tip is for a yb sitting ,especialy the longer races, is to put about 5 eggs under it, take the cock away for a day ,and watch it trying to tuck its eggs under it, it gets them under one side then they pop out the other , it then tucks them in that side and so on, it makes the yb keen as it thinks its got to look after these eggs itself or racing to its first hatch, again with the cock away for a day and even a night widowhood cock for longer races ,especially an older bird , after not seeing its hen for a few weeks ,turn the bowl and put 2 .3 day two ybs in the,day b4 the race marking, but keep renewing the yb as the cock will have no soft food, it gets keen trying to fed them. it doesnt allways work ,but has worked for me :)
