one of the owners phoned up till now, very nice gentleman, . the 3 birds are in a basket in the spare room, fed and vits in water never seen out here, so have agreed with the chap ill take the three birds 10 mile south of me and lib on sunday,forecast bad for tomorrow here, ill let the others know when they phone i see mitch has a nehu one in his loft, if you want mitch ill let it off with the other three, see what the owner says, or indeed anyone in the area that has nehu birds in if you want me to take them just let me know,,,,beats me how theve arrived up here in that cold north wind weve been having lately

hi samantha,,,remember your 12 birds will breed another 12 [probably less due to mishaps] but if your loft is well ventilated, and get out every day , you could probably stretch that to 20, if you needed to, but plenty fresh air is the secret

very sorry to here all this,but if its any consolation i would breed ybs now if it would help, and possibly get some stock birds, if anyone needed them it really needs a high security fence built round it as it will happen again [hope not]

what would you define as the strain of a pigeon? or what is a pure strain of pigeon.

have to agree with andy,, time on the wing,, i think it was massareli. that started this" craze" off, we had sprinters, sprinters to middle ,, middle., middle to long, long, and extreme long, then we talk about MILES, instead of time on the wing, which is more to the point , you can have a long time on the wing in a shorter race, and shorter time on the wing in a longer race yes i agree andy,,,time on the wing that counts ,,not miles.

i also have been lucky with latebreds, i really think theve got to be nursed till 2yo had a latebred never raced as yb, 3 races as yearling then dropped it came home the following wed, kept it for a fortnight ,sent it again ,was my second bird, this was about150 miles, stopped for the season ,as a two year old won in excess of 1000 pounds [maybe exeption to the rule, but this bird won untill it was 4 yo , i then gave it back to my friend who bred it]

keano,how did you winter feed them b4 breeding, they werent that far behind, so things cant be too bad maybe a litle higher protein would help, but why not get a second opinion on the handling of them, just a thought.

hi speed bird no one seems to be answering you, never mind pal ill put my 2 pennith worth in ;D ;D ;D after the race i fed depurative with yeast and lemon in it, fed this till tuesday then fed widowhood mix,i gave them a few peanuts and increased this as the races got longer and harder, i had electrolytes in the water when they come home,and vits in the water wednesday. 3 days b4 race i put a pinch of conditioner mixed with hormoform in their boxes after they were fed, after the 200 mile mark i fed widowhood mix from the monday this was for the birds racing up to 360 miles,,, the 5, 600 milers were treated completely differantly,,,,, this ws just a rough guide, as i would change it somtimes due to the weather and the race. good luck to you speedy,,, oh just one thing i never raced yearlings b4 middle of may or any widowhood cocks for that matter, i would tain a few spare hens for the first 3 races

i used to feed 2 or 3 peanuts, and as the races got longer and harder, i would increase this, i found that when they had been on widowhood for a while and in the heat of the summer [thats a joke]they never ate as much, but could get them to eat the peanuts, but going back to keanos post, you didnt say how they got on on the saturday, that should be able to tell you if there was anything wrong.

i could agree with you to a point tt but if the fancier that thas taken the first 6 has only sent,say 12, then theres other fanciers sending 40, theres really no exuses.

no, i dont think thats fair at all,,,,the third pigeon in the race,,,should be third its like it being disqualified for racing home quick
