I AGREE WITH YOU ROLAND, ESPECIALLY WITH YOUR GIRL FREIND ;D ;D ;D I HAVE ONLY ONE KIDNEY , BUT THE BODY IS USED TO THIS AND THE ONE DOES THE WORK OF TWO., THATS WHY I SAY [ A WEE BIT OFF TOPIC] THAT IF YOU FED YOUR BIRDS ON PELLETS ALONE , THIS WOULD MAKE THE GIZZARD REDUNDANT , AND BECOME FAULTY OR USELESS, SO THEY DO NEED HARD GRAIN[EVEN IF GIVING PELLETS] BACK TO THE POST PIGEONS HAVE SENSES DIFFERANT THAN HUMANS, AND IM QUITE SURE IF THEY HAVE TO USE THESE SENSES, THEY CAN DETECT MANY THINGS, THAT WE CANT [APART FROM YOUR GIRLFREIND ;D ;D ;D]

I HAD AN ELDERBERRY TREE GROWING AT MY LAST HOUSE, THE PIGEONS USED TO EAT THESE , ONLY WHEN RIPE, TRIED TO STOP THEM , BUT COULDNT, BUT THE THING WAS , ALLTHOUGH IT TURNED THEIR DROPPINGS RED IT DIDNT SEEM TO DO THE BIRDS ANY HARM,,,,,,SO MAYBE SOME OTHER THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT??
-
BANG ON ROLAND I THOUGHT THE MEMBERS WOULD HAVE GOT THE DRIFT YOU WERE GETTING AT B4 THE LAST POST

im just smiling at fifers post , about the railways, my father was the goods gaurd on the "pigeon train" these birds were looked after so well with convoyer joe copeland, both my father and joe would check on these birds all the time , making sure there was plenty" clean" water, and keeping their eyes open for injured ,sick or pecked birds, they had no hesitation of breaking the seal and removing a pigeon"trust " hard to get nowadays,,these birds were taken off by porters at there destination at the end of the platform, able to get air all about and see about, less losses then.??? P/S when we took our birds for a toss at the station ,as young lads, they wieghed the basket and charged you accordingly ;D ;D, well us little tykes would put our foot under the scales ;D ;D just to make them "slightly lighter" ;D ;D ;D and got a 50 mile toss for 3 shillings ;D ;D ;D the porter weighing these new that, ;D ;D as he got to know us ;D ;D and when the basket came back the label was filled in ,,lib at such and such a time and even the weather, cloudy or sunny etc ;D ;D ;D and we cycled to the railway station with the basket on the carrier on the bike ;D ;D ;D JUST BROUGHT IT ALL BACK TO ME FIFER, AND HAD TO SMILE ;D ;D ;D

ROLAND IF YOU READ BRONOS POST ON IVERMECTIN ON "HEALTH POSTS"" UNDER LICE" IT MAY HELP , AS I SAID B4 IT WONT STOP THEM ATTACKING THE BIRDS BUT THEY WONT DO IT FOR LONG, IF IT KILLS PIGEONS TREATED WITH THIS , IT WILL SOON POISON ITSELF

MARY, of exeter, owned bycharlie brewer, a shoemaker from west st in exeter, made a significant contribution to war time communications with his pigeons. many ferried secret information between london and plymouth and france and london. mr brewer had to be sworn to secrecy over the activities of his pigeons and the messages they carried. he had a pigeon loft above his home ,just behind thecity wall,.MARY OF EXETER, in 5 years war service, received 22 stiches [a lot for a small bird] attacked by a hawk in 1942 while carrying a message-got home needing 7 stiches. 5 months later was shot under the wing, while carrying a message and again got home-shotgun pellets removed and stiched up again. during the blitz of exeter a bomb exploded, blowing her basket to bits, but she stayed waiting for her owner. missing for 10 days, with no food or drink, she was picked up from a field nearly dead, wounded from the top of her head to her neck,,,the muscles were so torn she had to have a collar to hold her head up. even after this she did another 2 years active service, and did even more missions,,,,,,what can one say??? , apart from truly amazing.

wouldnt paint it with gloss, but would emulsion it with pale blue , a calming colour for the birds [ thats why the canary men have their show cages painted pale blue] -

just looking through posts and see the youngest was found in an attic flat, i would very much doubt it would be a wood pigeon as they seem to stick to the trees for nesting,[not that that makes much differance :) ] but you seem to have a knack with them anyway,,,,good luck :)

kev ,,youll maybe get some info on the hawk posts the ivermectin is poison to the hawks, but its not your fault if a hawk eats one and poisons itself ,, youve treated in the beleive that the ivermectin cures parasites ,both inside the bird and outside the bird, with the best of faith,, good luck to you and hope things go quiet
